Background

Composer Ali Zuckowski had originally composed the song for another project, however, every major record label in Austria had refused to produce "Rise Like a Phoenix". Following a request from the Austrian Eurovision team about possible song contributions, Zuckowski immediately thought of suggesting "Rise Like a Phoenix", reasoning, "I knew that with this song still something great was going to happen". The song was entered into the ORF internal selection process and was ultimately chosen to represent the country.https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stern.de%2Fkultur%2Fmusik%2Fesc-siegerin-conchita-wurst-plattenfirmen-lehnten-rise-like-a-phoenix-ab-2110281.html&edit-text=&act=url
