Nunam Iqua first appeared on the 1950 U.S. Census as the unincorporated village of "Sheldon's Point." In 1960, it reported as Sheldon Point. In 1974, it formally incorporated as Sheldon Point. In 1999, the name was changed to Nunam Iqua. As of the
