History

It was founded as the ''
khutor A khutor ( rus, хутор, p=ˈxutər) or khutir ( uk, хутiр, pl. , ''khutory'') is a type of rural locality in some countries of Eastern Europe; in the past the term mostly referred to a single-homestead settlement.
'' of Bukatin (). After 1917, it was renamed Krasnaya Sloboda (). In 1955, it was given its present name and granted town status. Krasnaya Sloboda was a Suburb of Stalingrad. In 1942 German forces reached the Volga opposite the town, but were defeated in 1943.
