History

Korpilahti has existed at least since 1596 in Swedish sources as ''Kårpilaxiby'', when it was a part of the parish of
Jämsä Jämsä () is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Central Finland region, about southwest of Jyväskylä. The municipality has a population of (), which make it the second largest town of the Central Finland after Jyväsk ...
. It became a separate parish in 1861. The municipality of Muurame was split off from Korpilahti in 1921, while Säynätsalo was split off from Muurame in 1924. The municipality of Korpilahti became a part of Jyväskylä in 2009.
