Al Attiyah started his career as a fighter pilot and joined Qatar's

where he served from 1987 to 1995. He left the air force and established a law firm in 1995. From 2003 to 2008, he served as the president of the National Committee for Human Rights. During the same period he also owned a law firm. Then he served as the minister of state for international cooperation from 2008 to 2011. During his tenure he also served as acting minister for business and trade. In 2009, he became a member of
