She is the daughter of Jenny Moore and of
Bishop Paul Moore Paul Moore Jr. (November 15, 1919 – May 1, 2003) was a bishop of the Episcopal Church and former United States Marine Corps officer. He served as the 13th Bishop of New York from 1972 to 1989. During his lifetime, he was perhaps the best know ...

She is the author of three collections of poems: ''Red Shoes'', ''Darling'', and ''Memoir''; two works of nonfiction, ''The White Blackbird'' and ''The Bishop's Daughter''; and the play ''Mourning Pictures'', which was produced on Broadway and published in ''The New Women’s Theatre: Ten Plays by Contemporary American Women'', which she edited. Moore has received awards in poetry and playwriting from the
