Fra Guglielmo was not only the foremost among the Dominican sculptors, but according to Marachese, ''by reason of his many and important works, deserves to be ranked among the grandest Italian sculptors, far excelling all contemporaries. Arnolfo, Giovanni Pisano, and his master excepted.''
