About TELUS Health

TELUS Health offers various health-related products and services to Canadians which according to TELUS Health, "serve to help improve Canadians’ overall care experience". The following section identifies where TELUS Health is presently active within Canada's healthcare ecosystem (updated as of April 2022). TELUS Health Virtual Pharmacy According to an article posted on Insurance Canada, TELUS Health Virtual Pharmacy offers patients the opportunity to access pharmacy services in both a community pharmacy and a virtual setting. Users can set up automatic refill reminders for prescription medications, have them shipped to their doorstep, and gain access to private one-on-one video or phone consultations with pharmacists. It also provides users with tools to track their family’s medication through an online dashboard. According to TELUS Health, through Virtual Pharmacy, users can access a service called “MedPack” which allows individuals to organize and package multiple medications by date and time. The TELUS Health Virtual Pharmacy is available online and through a free mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. TELUS Health MyCare After acquiring Babylon Health Canada in January 2021, TELUS rebranded the virtual care service to TELUS Health MyCare later that same year. According to TELUS Health, MyCare offers Canadians a suite of health and well-being services, available through a downloadable app, users can access an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Symptom Checker and preventative tools such as Healthcheck to guide positive lifestyle changes. If additional patient support is needed, one-on-one virtual consultations with licensed family physicians local to the user, are available and covered under provincial health plans in British Columbia, Alberta, Sasktchewan and Ontario, with appointments available on evenings and weekends. According to TELUS Health, these family physicians are able to support most non-urgent healthcare needs in addition to providing prescriptions, lab requisitions and specialist referrals. Prescription delivery is another service available through the app. Access to other healthcare providers, such as mental health counselors and registered dietitians, are also available, with counseling services available in Quebec. LivingWell CompanionTM LivingWell CompanionTM and TELUS Health Companion on Apple Watch are wearable personal emergency response services that provide 24/7 access to medical emergency support. Available as an in-home or GPS-enabled mobile device, this service is designed to alert trained operators when the emergency button is manually pressed or if the optional fall detection feature detects a fall. When the alert is received, trained operators will immediately attempt to contact the customer first, then designated family or friends or emergency services. According to TELUS Health, the automatic fall detection feature might not detect all falls. And the company suggests to its users that if they do fall, to not wait for the automatic call, and to always press and hold the button for help when possible. TELUS Health Virtual Care TELUS Health Virtual Care provides 24/7 virtual access to health professionals who deliver primary physical and mental healthcare services to employees across Canada, through their employer-provided health benefits plans.
