As a historian he wrote ''Mansfeldi Chronica'', ''Saxonian Chronica'', and other publications. His ''Adelsspiegel'' is probably the most important early-modern aristocracy treatise. Also he wrote ''How Husbands Ought to Behave'' and ''What every Christian should make...Confession of Faith.''
