The Craigieburn Plaza Shopping Centre opened in 1975, the Reserve Bank's Note Printing Branch in 1981, and by 1984 there was a Catholic primary school, a secondary college, kindergarten, community health centre, several reserves and a public golf course. By 1991, the population was over 10,000. In 2005, the Hume Highway bypassed Craigieburn with the opening of the Craigieburn Bypass.
