Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.9% of the area while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 3.5%. On 1 May 2014, the official name changed from Bussigny-près-Lausanne to Bussigny. The municipality is located west of Lausanne and near the Venoge river. It consists of the villages of Bussigny-près-Lausanne and Saint-Germain.
