He is best remembered today for playing Sergeant John J. Wilson, Columbo's polite, respectful assistant in two episodes of '' Columbo'' ("Now You See Him" and "The Greenhouse Jungle") and as “Mister Terrific” in one episode of '' The Golden Girls''.
