Early life and education

Abu Sharif was born in the Old City of Jerusalem on 9 August 1946. His parents were upper-middle-class Sunni Muslims and had been residing in Jordan since 1943 due to the fact that his father was working at the

. He graduated from a secondary school in Irbid, Jordan. In 1963 he began his studies at the American University of Beirut and graduated from the university in 1967.

PFLP

Abu Sharif organized, and participated in, many actions against Israel. He lost four fingers, and was left deaf in one ear and blind in one eye, when a bomb exploded in his hands in
