Think Think () and Ah Tsai () are two cats belonging to the President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen. Think Think is a female grey tabby, while Ah Tsai is a male ginger tabby. Origin of the cats Think Think was adopted by Tsai in 2012, after being brought to her as a homeless kitten by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Hsiao Bi-khim. Hsiao had found the kitten on a muddy road by a railway station near Hualien after Typhoon Saola. Ah Tsai (meaning 'talent') was a farm cat, and a gift from a friend during Tsai's presidential campaign. The cat was found near a pineapple field in Taitung County in eastern Taiwan. Prior to her election as president, Tsai lived in a modest apartment with the two cats. Hamish McHamish (1999 – 11 September 2014) was a ginger cat who lived in the town of St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. He came to national and international prominence after the publication of a book entitled ''Hamish McHamish of St Andrews: Cool Cat About Town''. Hamish built up a following on social media, with a dedicated Facebook page and Twitter account set up by fans. Early life Hamish was born in 1999 and was initially owned by Marianne Baird, a retired BBC producer, with whom he lived during his first year. Gladstone is a British cat who is the resident chief mouser to HM Treasury in Whitehall, London. He is a domestic short-haired cat, who, at eighteen months old, assumed the position of chief mouser in late June 2016. Gladstone's political namesake is former Chancellor and Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone, who served for four separate periods, more than any other Chancellor. Gladstone is responsible for catching mice at the Treasury's 1 Horse Guards Road building. The inception of the position of chief mouser at the Treasury followed the creation of similar positions at 10 Downing Street (Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office) and the Foreign Office; those positions were held by Larry and Palmerston, as of July 2016. Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office is the title of the official resident cat at 10 Downing Street, the residence and executive office of the prime minister of the United Kingdom in London. There has been a resident cat in the British government employed as a mouser and pet since the 16th century, although modern records date only to the 1920s. Despite other cats having served Downing Street, the first one to be given the official title of Chief Mouser by the British government was Larry in 2011. Other cats have been given this title affectionately, usually by the British press. Freya (born April 2009) is a tabby cat owned by the former Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom George Osborne and his family. Freya went missing from the Osbornes' house in Notting Hill when she was just a few months old, and after searching West London for her, the family assumed she had died or had become lost.
