The station's studios are located in the central part of Watterson Park and the transmitter site is in Brooks. Station history Experimental W9XEK began on July 22, 1944 at 45.5 MHz (on the original FM band). HD Radio (HDR) is a trademark for an in-band on-channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcast technology. It generally simulcasts an existing analog radio station in digital format with less noise and with additional text information. HD Radio is used primarily by AM and FM radio stations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a few implementations outside North America.
