Ricardo Villalobos
Ricardo Villalobos (born 6 August 1970) is a Chilean-born German electronic music producer and DJ. He is well known for his work in the minimal techno and microhouse genres, and is one of the most significant figures in today's minimal techno scene. Life and work Villalobos was born in Chile on 6 August 1970. In 1973 he moved to Germany with his family to escape the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, who had seized power that year. When Villalobos was around 10 or 11 he started to play conga and bongos. He began making electronic music in the late 80s. From a very young age he has been a big fan of Depeche Mode, following their tours around Europe to listen to them. Villalobos began to play his music at parties while he was studying at university, but this was only for his own enjoyment. He started a label, Placid Flavour, in 1993 but this was unsuccessful. Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals and co-songwriting) and Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, co-lead vocals and main songwriting). Depeche Mode, originally formed by the lineup of Gahan, Gore, Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke, released their debut album '' Speak & Spell'' in 1981, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. After founding member Clarke left following the release of the album, they recorded '' A Broken Frame'' as a trio. Gore took over as main songwriter and later, in 1982, Alan Wilder replaced Clarke, establishing a lineup that continued for 13 years. Fizheuer Zieheuer
''Fizheuer Zieheuer'' is a 2006 single written and produced by minimal techno artist Ricardo Villalobos. The 37-minute song is primarily based on a horns sample from a gypsy folk song titled "Pobjednički Čoček" by Serbian group Blehorkestar Bakija Bakić, as discovered – after the record's publication – by a member of the forum at Discogs.com.Sherburne, Philip"Ricardo Villalobos: Fizheuer Zieheuer."January 26, 2007. Whilst the album was released as part of the Fabric mix CD series, it is composed entirely of new material by Villalobos and several collaborators, and as such could be considered a full studio album. ''Dependent and Happy'' is the third studio album by Ricardo Villalobos. It was released by Perlon on LP and CD over three dates in August and September, 2012. The album is Villalobos' first solo studio album since 2004's '' Thé au Harem d'Archimède''; several previous albums have either been DJ mixes (2007's '' fabric36''), compilations (2006's '' Salvador'' and 2008's '' Vasco'') or collaborations (2011's '' Re:ECM'', with Max Loderbauer.) ''Dependent and Happy'' was originally issued as five LP set, released in three parts: part one contained sides A-D; part two, sides E-H; and part three, sides I and J, a single vinyl release. Parts one and two were released on August 29, 2012, while part three followed on September 5. The CD pressing was released two weeks later, on September 19. It was the label's first release. Thé Au Harem D'Archimède
''Thé au Harem d'Archimède'' is the second studio album by Ricardo Villalobos. It was released by Perlon on LP and CD on October 12, 2004. The album's French title, which translates into English as "Tea in the Harem of Archimedes," is a reference to the Mehdi Charef film ''Tea in the Harem'' (French title: ''Le thé au Harem d'Archimède''), as well as a mondegreen of the French phrase " Théorème d'Archimède," also the title of the album's fourth track. ''Thé au Harem d'Archimède'' continues to build on the nuanced percussion of Villalobos' previous album, '' Alcachofa'', while eschewing melodies in favour for rhythm and groove. On vinyl, "Hireklon" is extended by over five minutes and features a longer guitar solo, while the delay and dub effects on the clapping is toned down significantly. Alcachofa (album)
''Alcachofa'' is the first studio album released by Chilean-German producer Ricardo Villalobos on the German house label Playhouse on September 19, 2003. The album cemented Villalobos' place in the vanguards of microhouse and minimal techno. The vinyl edition contains an alternative track listing, as "What You Say Is More Than I Can Say" was already released in its full version on the EP ''Halma''. "La Raja", "Quizás" and "Fusion the Enemies" remain exclusive to vinyl, while CD cuts "Waiworinao" and "Fools Garden" were later released on vinyl as part of the EP ''Alcachofa Tools''. "Y.G.H." remains exclusive to the CD pressing. In 2015, Villalobos would re-issue "Easy Lee" and "Dexter" on his Sei Es Drum label as a 12" vinyl. Loveparade
The Love Parade (german: Loveparade) was a popular electronic dance music festival and technoparade that originated in 1989 in West Berlin, Germany. It was held annually in Berlin from 1989 to 2003 and in 2006, then from 2007 to 2010 in the Ruhr region. Events scheduled for 2004 and 2005 in Berlin and for 2009 in Bochum were canceled. On 24 July 2010, a crowd crush at the Love Parade in Duisburg caused the deaths of 21 people, with at least 500 others injured.
