Nikolaos Georgalis ( el, Νικόλαος Γεωργαλής; born July 23, 1957), commonly known as either Nikos Galis ( el, Νίκος Γκάλης), or Nick Galis, is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Nikos Beloyannis
Nikos Beloyannis ( el, Νίκος Μπελογιάννης; 1915 – 30 March 1952) was a Greek resistance leader and leading cadre of the Greek Communist Party. Biography Beloyannis was born in Amaliada ( Peloponnese, Greece) in 1915. He came from a relatively prosperous family and went on to study law in Athens, but before being able to graduate, he was arrested and jailed in the Akronauplia prison (Nauplion) by the Ioannis Metaxas regime in the 1930s and transferred to the Germans after the Axis occupation of Greece (1941). He escaped in 1943 and joined the Greek People's Liberation Army (ELAS) in Peloponnese in the side of Aris Velouchiotis. After becoming Political Commissioner of the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE) during the Greek Civil War, he was one of the last to leave the country (1949) after its defeat. Nikos Gatsos ( el, Νίκος Γκάτσος; 8 December 1911 – 12 May 1992) was a Greek poet, translator and lyricist. Biography Nikos Gatsos was born in 1911 in Asea in Arcadia, a district of the Peloponnese, where he finished primary school (''dimotiko''). He attended high school (''gymnasio'') in Tripoli, where he became acquainted with literature and foreign languages. Afterwards, he moved to Athens, where he studied literature, philosophy, and history at the University of Athens for two years only. Nikos Christodoulou
Nikos Christodoulou (born 1959) is a Greek conductor and composer, and the music director of the City of Athens Symphony Orchestra and Choir. He is also the founder of the New Symphony Orchestra of Athens and the Euro Youth Philharmonic. Biography Nikos Christodoulou studied composition in Athens with J.A. Papaioannou and the piano. He furthered his composition studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, and his conducting studies at the Royal College of Music in London. From 1977 to 1981, Nikos Christodoulou was an associate composer and adviser at Greek National Radio. Among other symphonic works he conducts Skalkottas, which he has recorded. He was also a teacher at the Hellenic Conservatory, and makes regular appearances at the Greek National Opera. Nikos Gounaris
Nikos Gounaris ( el, Νίκος Γούναρης; Zagora, 1915 – 5 May 1965 in Athens) was a Greek tenor who was enormously popular as a "pop" singer in the 1950s. Biography Gounaris began playing the mandolin at the age of four. He attended the musical Conservatory of Music in Athens. Gounaris was a Greek elafró singer and among the foremost Greek composers and musicians of the 1950s and 1960s. He was especially popular in the Greek community in America. A great deal of his entertainment was at two Greek resorts in the Catskills in upstate NY, the Sunset and the Monte Carlo. He mainly sang about the sad side of love, and betrayed lovers. Nikos Dimou ( el, Νίκος Δήμου), born in 1935 in Athens, is a Greek writer and columnist. He started out as a copywriter and went on to become one of the best-known Greek intellectuals. Biography He graduated from Athens College and studied French literature in Athens. From 1954 to 1960, he studied philosophy at the University of Munich in Germany. He published his first book in 1953. In 1962, he started working in advertising as a copywriter. In 1965, he founded his own company. Nikos Christodoulides (born 6 December 1973) is a Cypriot politician, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2018 to 2022 and Spokesperson of the Government from 2014 to 2018. Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas (; February 26, 1906 – September 3, 1994), also known as Niko Ghika, was a leading Greek painter, sculptor, engraver, writer and academic. Nikolaos (Nikos) Chatzivrettas (alternate spelling: Hatzivrettas) (Greek: Νικόλαος (Νίκος) Χατζηβρέττας; born May 26, 1977) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Chatzivrettas is 1.97 m (6 ft 5 in) tall. He played at the shooting guard and small forward positions.
