La Cienega/Jefferson station is an elevated light rail station on the E Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located over the intersection of La Cienega Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard, after which the station is named, in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw and West Adams neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The station briefly served as the western terminus of the E Line between the opening of the line on April 28, 2012 and the completion of the Culver City station on June 20, 2012. Compton Creek
Compton Creek is a major tributary of the Los Angeles River in and surrounding Compton in Los Angeles County, California. The stream drains a watershed of . and is the last major tributary to enter the Los Angeles River before it reaches the Pacific Ocean. The stream begins just east of South Main Street between 107th and 108th Streets in Los Angeles. Compton Creek passes through Willowbrook and runs in total. Most of its route is encased in a concrete flood control channel. Shortly after it passes under West Greenleaf Boulevard, it changes to an earth-bottom section with riprap banks. Joined near its end by East Compton Creek, the creek ultimately empties into the Los Angeles River just south of Del Amo Boulevard. Chandler Boulevard Bicycle Path
The Chandler Boulevard Bike Path is a Class I rail trail off-street bike route that runs from North Hollywood to Burbank in Los Angeles County, California. Chandler Blvd. Bikeway was the Southern Pacific Burbank Branch railroad track until the 1980s. The path has separate bicycle and pedestrian lanes, sculpture, murals, pleasant landscaping and impressive views of the Verdugo Mountains. Chandler Boulevard cyclists and pedestrians have “easy access to…shops and restaurants” in the North Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles and a “tranquil trip through residential areas” of the incorporated city of Burbank. Sepulveda Basin
The Sepulveda Dam is a project of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers designed to withhold winter flood waters along the Los Angeles River. Completed in 1941, at a cost of $6,650,561 (), it is located south of center in the San Fernando Valley, approximately eight miles east of the river's source in the western end of the Valley, in Los Angeles, California. Sepulveda Dam, along with Hansen Dam located in the north San Fernando Valley, was constructed in response to the historic 1938 floods which killed 144 people. Sepulveda Dam was placed at what was at the time, the current edge of the city. East of the dam the river was crowded into a narrow bottom by the city's growth. Chatsworth, Los Angeles
Chatsworth is a suburban neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles, California, in the San Fernando Valley. The area was home to Native Americans, some of whom left caves containing rock art. Chatsworth was explored and colonized by the Spanish beginning in the 18th century. The land was part of a Spanish land grant, Rancho Ex-Mission San Fernando, in the 19th century, and after the United States took over the land following the Mexican–American War, it was the largest such grant in California. Settlement and development followed. Chatsworth has seven public and eight private schools. Browns Creek Bike Trail
Browns Creek Bike Path is a Class I bike path that is “tucked away from the surrounding hustle and bustle” of the San Fernando Valley, “hugging the side” of the Browns Canyon Wash. The path begins at Lassen Street, just east of Chatsworth Metrolink Station, and ends just north of Rinaldi Street near Stoney Point Park. Browns Creek (sometimes called Brown’s Creek), a tributary of the Los Angeles River, offers “splendid views of the irregularly shaped Santa Susana mountains rising to the west.” One local writer observed, “What he concrete-lined creeklacks in scenery, it compensates for by providing the trail with an open, airy setting.” The route has been described as “very rustic” (for an urban bike path, of course).
