Cinema Of Bangladesh
The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood ( bn, ঢালিউড), is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled ''Sukumari'' () was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, '' The Last Kiss'', was released in 1931. Jaaz Multimedia is a film production and distribution house in Bangladesh. History 2011-2014: Initial Years Jaaz Multimedia released their first film, ''Bhalobasar Rong'' starring Bappy and Mahiya Mahi, in 2012. In 2013, Jaaz Multimedia released four films: '' Onnorokom Bhalobasha'', '' PoraMon'', '' Bhalobasha Aaj Kal'' and '' Tobuo Bhalobashi'', all of which starred Mahiya Mahi. Chashi Nazrul Islam
Chashi Nazrul Islam (11 October 1941 – 11 January 2015) was a Bangladeshi film director and producer. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Director twice for the films Shuvoda (1986) and Hangor Nodi Grenade (1997). He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and career Islam was born on 23 October 1941 at Shomoshpur village in Sreenagar Upazila of Munshiganj to Mosleh Uddin Khan and Shayesta Khanom. He was the eldest among four brothers and three sisters. His father was a service holder at Jamshedpur, India. At the age of 16, his father died. Art Film
An art film (or arthouse film) is typically an independent film, aimed at a niche market rather than a mass market audience. Parallel Cinema
Parallel cinema, or New Indian Cinema, is a film movement in Indian cinema that originated in the state of West Bengal in the 1950s as an alternative to the mainstream commercial Indian cinema. Inspired by Italian Neorealism, Parallel Cinema began just before the French New Wave and Japanese New Wave, and was a precursor to the Indian New Wave of the 1960s. Rubaiyat Hossain ( bn, রুবাইয়াত হোসেন) is a Bangladeshi film director, writer, and producer. She made the films ''Meherjaan'' (2011), '' Under Construction'' (2015) and '' Made in Bangladesh'' (2019). Humayun Ahmed
Humayun Ahmed (; 13 November 1948 – 19 July 2012) was a Bangladeshi novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, songwriter, scholar, and professor. His breakthrough was his debut novel '' Nondito Noroke'' published in 1972. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, many of which were bestsellers in Bangladesh. His books were the top sellers at the Ekushey Book Fair during the 1990s and 2000s. He won the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981 and the Ekushey Padak in 1994 for his contribution to Bengali literature. In the early 1990s, Ahmed emerged as a filmmaker. Tareque Masud
Tareque Masud (6 December 1956 – 13 August 2011) was a Cinema of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi independent film director, film producer, screenwriter and lyricist. He first found success with the films ''Muktir Gaan'' (1995) and ''Matir Moina'' (2002), for which he won three international awards, including the International Critics' FIPRESCI Prize, in the Directors' Fortnight at 2002 Cannes Film Festival. The film became List of Bangladeshi submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Bangladesh's first film to compete for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Tanvir Mokammel (born 8 March 1955) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker and writer. He is the recipient of Ekushey Padak in 2017. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards total ten times for the films ''Nodir Naam Modhumoti'' (1995), ''Chitra Nodir Pare'' (1999) and ''Lalsalu'' (2001).
