Yokel Boy
''Yokel Boy'' is a 1942 American comedy film directed by Joseph Santley and written by Isabel Dawn. It is based on the 1939 play ''Yokel Boy'' by Lew Brown. The film stars Albert Dekker, Joan Davis, Eddie Foy Jr., Alan Mowbray, Roscoe Karns and Mikhail Rasumny. The film was released on March 13, 1942, by Republic Pictures. Plot Hollywood studio boss R. B. Harris is desperate for a box-office hit. Reading about a young man in Kansas who has gained a reputation as the movies' number one fan, Harris summons him, Joe Ruddy, to ask his advice about a new gangster story. Joseph Santley
Joseph Mansfield Santley (born Joseph Ishmael Mansfield, January 10, 1890 – August 8, 1971) was an American actor, singer, dancer, writer, director, and producer of musical theatrical plays motion pictures and television shows. He adopted the stage name of his stepfather, actor Eugene Santley. Life and career Joseph Santley was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a boy, he and older brother Fred began performing in live theatre appearing in summer stock and touring with their parents. In 1906, at age seventeen, Joseph Santley co-wrote and starred on Broadway in the play, ''Billy the Kid''. In 1907, he acted in film for the first time for Sidney Olcott at the Kalem Company in a silent Western film short called ''The Pony Express''. Tom Dugan (1 January 1889 – 7 March 1955) was an Irish-American film actor. He appeared in more than 260 films between 1927 and 1955. He was born in Dublin, Ireland and died in Redlands, California, after injuries sustained in a road accident. Life and career At an early age, Tom Dugan's family moved to Philadelphia where he was educated at the Philadelphia High School. After leaving school, he tried three trades (shoe cutting, neck tie cutting and paper hanging) in quick succession but he had a good tenor voice, so he decided on show business. He appeared in a travelling medicine show, then a minstrel troupe before going on stage. He was a headliner for the Keith Circuit in America for several years.
