Washington Wave
The Washington Wave was an American lacrosse team. They were a member of the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League and the Major Indoor Lacrosse League from 1987 to 1989. They were based in Washington, D.C. and played in the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland. USAir Arena
The Capital Centre (later USAir Arena and US Airways Arena) was an indoor arena in the eastern United States, located in Landover, Maryland, a suburb east of Washington, D.C. Opened in late 1973, it closed in 1999, and was demolished in 2002. The seating capacity was 18,756 for basketball and 18,130 for hockey. The elevation at street level was approximately above sea level. Frank Urso
Frank Urso (born 1954) is a former American lacrosse player and current high school lacrosse coach, best known for his collegiate career at the University of Maryland from 1973 to 1976. During those four years, Maryland won two national championships, in 1973 and 1975, and reached the final in 1974 and 1976. Urso received the Tewaaraton Legend Award in 2016. College career Urso led the Terrapins to the 1973 and 1975 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships and to a perfect 10–0 record in 1973. Urso ranks fourth all-time in Maryland men's lacrosse scoring with 208 career points and first all-time in NCAA Division I tournament scoring with 32 goals. Urso earned first-team All-American honors all four years while in college, one of only four players in NCAA history to achieve that feat. Lacrosse Teams In Maryland
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. The 1988 Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League season is the 2nd season of the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse, that began on January 3, 1988, and concluded with the championship game on March 20. On May 15, 1988 the league was renamed Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL), a name the league would keep for the next ten years. Brad Kotz
Bradley 'Brad' A. Kotz was a four-time All-American NCAA lacrosse player at Syracuse University from 1982 to 1985. Syracuse Orange The Orange won an NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in 1983 and made two additional appearances in the NCAA finals in 1984 and 1985, with Kotz as their leading player. In the 1983 championship, Kotz teamed with Tim Nelson to lead the Orange to a 17-16 upset over Johns Hopkins, and the team's first national title since 1925. Kotz scored five goals, all in the second half, and was named the tournament MVP in leading Syracuse back from a 12 to 5 second half deficit. Kotz was named the USILA player of the year in 1983, and was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2001. Kotz was also a member of the ILF World Champion US squads for the 1986 and 1990 World Lacrosse Championships, teaming with John Tucker, Larry Quinn, Tony Resch and Dave Pietramala.
