WLNG
WLNG (92.1 FM) is an oldies/ adult hits radio station licensed to Sag Harbor, New York, and serving eastern Long Island. WLNG is owned and operated by Bark Out Loud Dogs Media, LLC, a company led by meteorologist Bill Evans and his wife Sandra Foschi. Programming and history WLNG has only had three ownership changes since its founding in 1963. Fitzgerald C. Smith (1922–2005) started the station on August 13, 1963. Fitzgerald (known as Jerry) had been a reporter for ''The New York Times'' and NBC radio. WLNG began broadcasting on AM at 1600 kHz. In 1996 the 1600 frequency was sold to WWRL so that they could increase the power of their station which was on the same frequency closer to New York City. WLNG has been broadcasting on FM since 1969. WWRL
WWRL (1600 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to New York City. WWRL airs an all-news radio format as an affiliate of the Black Information Network (BIN). The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. By day, WWRL broadcasts at 25,000 watts; at night, to protect other stations on 1600 AM, it reduces power to 5,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is on Radio Avenue in Secaucus, New Jersey, near the Hackensack River. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WWRL programming is also carried on the third HD subchannel of WWPR-FM, and is available online via iHeartRadio. The network was previously distributed by Cumulus Media Networks (through Cumulus Media) and licensed the ABC branding from Disney (which produces the network's programming via its ABC News Radio unit) until the end of 2014 when Cumulus launched its own in-house news division from its newly acquired Westwood One radio network. Bill Evans (meteorologist)
William Howard Evans (born 16 July 1960) is an American meteorologist and the former weatherman for WABC-TV, the ABC affiliate in New York City. Early career Evans's broadcasting career began at the age of 13 in his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi on WDAL Radio and WTOK-TV. He attended Mississippi State University, where he studied business administration, and Jackson State University, where he studied meteorology. In 1985 the National Weather Service named him "Outstanding Meteorologist" for his forecasting and reporting during Hurricane Elena. Before coming to New York, Evans was meteorologist for WALA-TV in Mobile, Alabama and was morning show host on WABB-FM. He also held similar jobs in Dallas, as both meteorologist at WFAA-TV and morning show host for KHYI-FM. Sag Harbor, New York
Sag Harbor is an incorporated village in Suffolk County, New York, United States, in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton on eastern Long Island. The village developed as a working port on Gardiner's Bay. The population was 2,772 at the 2020 census. The entire business district is listed as the historic Sag Harbor Village District on the National Register of Historic Places. Noyack, New York
Noyack (also Noyac) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The CDP population was 4,325 at the 2020 census. ''Noyac'' is an Algonquin word meaning "a corner or point of land". It is believed that it refers to Jessup Neck, granted to John Jessup in 1679. Noyac is located on the South Fork of Long Island in the Town of Southampton. The community is at the edge of Noyac Bay. The NBC, National Broadcasting Company's NBC Radio Network (known as the NBC Red Network prior to 1942) was an American commercial radio network which was in operation from 1926 through 2004. Along with the Blue Network, NBC Blue Network it was one of the first two nationwide networks established in the United States.
