WGAL (channel 8) is a television station licensed to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States, serving the Susquehanna Valley region as an affiliate of NBC. Owned by Hearst Television, the station maintains studios on Columbia Avenue ( PA 462) in Lancaster Township, and its transmitter is located near US 30 north of Hallam. History The station first signed on the air on March 18, 1949, originally broadcasting on VHF channel 4. It was the fourth television station in Pennsylvania and the first to sign-on outside of Philadelphia, beating WDTV (now KDKA-TV) in Pittsburgh which began operations in November of that year. WROZ
WROZ (101.3 MHz) is a non-commercial FM radio station licensed to Lancaster and serving South Central Pennsylvania. The station is owned and operated by the Educational Media Foundation and carries its Air1 Christian worship music radio format. WROZ's studios and offices were formerly located off Route 283 at 1996 Auction Road in Manheim. WROZ's transmitter tower is co-located with former sister station WGAL-TV. WRKY (1490 kHz, "Rocky 98.5") is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by Forever Media and simulcasts the classic rock programming of sister station 98.5 WYCR. WRKY is one of Pennsylvania's oldest radio stations. WRKY is powered at 600 watts, using a non-directional antenna. The transmitter is off Fruitville Pike in Lancaster. Programming is also heard on FM translator W223CH at 92.5 MHz. Pennsylvania Route 462 (PA 462) is a east–west state route in York and Lancaster counties in central Pennsylvania. The western terminus is west of York, and the eastern terminus is east of Lancaster. At both ends, PA 462 terminates at U.S. Route 30 (US 30), which follows a mostly freeway alignment parallel to the north between York and Lancaster. The route heads east into York, where it follows the one-way pair of Market Street eastbound and Philadelphia Street westbound. In York, PA 462 runs concurrent with PA 74 and crosses Interstate 83 Business (I-83 Bus.). East of York, the route becomes a multilane road that has an interchange with I-83 and crosses PA 24. Story Television is an American digital broadcast television network owned by Weigel Broadcasting that airs programming which is related to history, normally older programs which are licensed from other networks. The formation of the network was announced on February 14, 2022. Weigel president Neal Sabin stated: “As we looked at the landscape, we looked at what genre works really well for advertisers and viewership that isn’t currently on the air right now." The genre which was chosen would be history-oriented programming. The name "Story" directly came from "history", the word that will play in the shows' taglines. Hallam is a borough in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,774 at the 2020 census. History Before 1736, all parts of Pennsylvania west of the Susquehanna River, including present-day Hallam Borough and the surrounding Hellam Township, were land of the Iroquois.
