Turkish Swimming Federation
The Turkish Swimming Federation ( tr, Türkiye Yüzme Federasyonu, TYF) is the governing body of the five aquatic sports, namely Swimming (sport), swimming, Diving (sport), diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and open water swimming in Turkey. It was founded in 1957. The Turkish organization is member of the LEN, European Swimming League (LEN), the FINA, International Swimming Federation (FINA) and Turkish Olympic Committee. The TYF is based in Ankara and its current chairman is Associate Erkan Yalçın. The Turkish Swimming Federation organizes aquatic sports competitions at national, European and World level in all categories for men and women of recognized age classes. Swimming (sport)
Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques; in competition, there are distinct regulations concerning the acceptable form for each individual stroke. Trabzon

2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 M)
The 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) was held in Istanbul, Turkey on 12–16 December 2012. This swimming-only championships took place in the Sinan Erdem Dome; all events were swum in a 25-meter ( short-course) pool. The United States topped the medal standings with a total of 27 medals and had the most gold medals with 11. A total of 18 championship records were set and 2 world records (both set by American Ryan Lochte) broken. Lochte and Hungarian Katinka Hosszú were named the best male and female swimmers of the competition. Lochte finished the meet with 8 total medals (breaking his previous record of 7 set in 2010) and Hosszú had 5 total medals. İzmit () is a district and the central district of Kocaeli province, Turkey. It is located at the Gulf of İzmit in the Sea of Marmara, about east of Istanbul, on the northwestern part of Anatolia. 2012 European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships
The 2012 European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships was part the 14th edition of the European Open Water Swimming Championships event of the LEN European Aquatics Championships for juniors held in Karamürsel, Kocaeli Province, Turkey from July 13 to 15. The event featured in the Gulf of İzmit at northeastern Marmara Sea for junior (17–18 years) and youth (15–16 years) male and female individuals and team event (youth/junior combined). Participating nations 117 swimmers (62 males, 55 females) from 21 countries swam at the 2012 European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships.
