Tupele-Ebi Diffa
Emmanuel W Tupele-Ebi Diffa was elected Senator for the Bayelsa West constituency of Bayelsa State, Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, running on the Alliance for Democracy (Nigeria), Alliance for Democracy (AD) platform. He took office on 29 May 1999. After taking his seat in the Senate in June 1999 he was appointed to committees on Petroleum, Environment, Niger Delta and Social Development & Sports. He was appointed deputy whip for the AD in the Senate. In December 2002 there were rumors that Diffa was planning to seek reelection on the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria), People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform, without first formally leaving the AD. Bayelsa State
Bayelsa is one of the states in the South-South region of Nigeria, located in the core of the Niger Delta region. Bayelsa State was created in 1996 and was carved out from Rivers State, making it one of the newest states in the federation. Yenagoa is the capital city of Bayelsa State with most parts to have fallen within the high-risk of floods, suspects to occur annually. Alliance For Democracy (Nigeria)
The Alliance for Democracy is a progressive opposition political party in Nigeria. It was formed on 9 September 1998. At the 2003 legislative elections, 12 April 2003, the party won 8.8% of the popular vote and 34 out of 360 seats in the Nigerian House of Representatives and 18 out of 109 seats in the Nigerian Senate. The party was formed to promote the cause of the Yoruba people in the Nigerian federation following the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election widely believed to have been won by Chief M.
