Tomarza
Tomarza, formerly known as Dumarza ( Armenian: Դումարզա), is a city of Kayseri Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. The mayor is Davut Şahin ( AKP). Toros Madaghjian (1890-1989) wrote the history of Tomarza in a book called "Memories of Tomarza". It was written in Armenian and first published in 1959. It was later translated into English and published in 2015 on Amazon. Toros survived the Armenian Genocide and settled in Racine, Wisconsin where many of his descendants now live. He first came to Racine in 1910, but returned to Tomarza to get a bride in 1921. His parents, brother and 2 sisters were all massacred in 1915. He was a founding member of St. Mesrob Armenian church in Racine as well as the founder of the first Armenian Sunday school in America. Kayseri Province
The Kayseri Province ( tr, ) is situated in central Turkey. The population is 1,434,357 of which around 1,175,876 live in the city of Kayseri. It covers an area of 16,917 km2 and it borders with Sivas, Adana, Niğde, Kahramanmaraş, Yozgat and Nevşehir provinces. The province is an area that has been linked with mythological stories as well as important figures in Turkish history. Kayseri (; el, Καισάρεια) is a large industrialised city in Central Anatolia, Turkey, and the capital of Kayseri province. The Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality area is composed of five districts: the two central districts of Kocasinan and Melikgazi, and since 2004, also outlying Hacılar, İncesu and Talas. The Armenian genocide was the systematic destruction of the Armenian people and identity in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
