Palazzo Porto Colleoni Thiene
The Palazzo Porto Colleoni Thiene, also called a Villa or Castello, is a prominent palace structure in the town center of Thiene. The castle has two lateral battlement or tower-like corners, with merlonated roof edges. Cathedral Of Thiene
Thiene Cathedral ( it, Duomo di Thiene) is a Roman Catholic church in Thiene, in the province of Vicenza, Italy, dedicated to Saint Cajetan (San Gaetano di Thiene) and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This church is not the seat of a bishop. History and description The present building replaced a previous church of the Assumption which apparently dated from before 1166. Construction was completed by 1314. It was rebuilt in 1625, and was substantially altered in the late 18th century by architect Ottone Calderari. The dome was not added till the 1930s. The nave ceiling is decorated with 15 paintings by Baroque Venetian painters, including Giulio Carpioni and Giovanni Battista Pittoni. Next to the church is the tall obelisk-like bell tower, designed by Sebastiano Serlio, beyond which is the Church of the Rosary built in 1685 in a staid Baroque style. Arturo Ferrarin
Arturo Ferrarin (13 February 1895 – 18 July 1941) was an Italian pioneer aviator. His exploits included winning the "Rome-Tokyo Raid" air race in 1920 and a non-stop flight from Italy to Brazil in 1928 with fellow aviator Carlo Del Prete. The latter flight set the world distance record for a non-stop flight. Ferrarin, who was born in Thiene and was a decorated veteran of the Italian Royal Air Force during World War I, died in a plane crash at Guidonia Montecelio in 1941. Early life Ferrarin was born in Thiene in the Province of Vicenza to Maria (''née'' Ciscato) and Antonio Ferrarin, a textiles industrialist. Saint Cajetan
Gaetano dei Conti di Thiene (6 October 1480 – 7 August 1547), known as Saint Cajetan (), was an Italian Catholic priest and religious reformer, co-founder of the Theatines. He is recognised as a saint in the Catholic Church, and his feast day is 7 August. Life Cajetan was born in October 1480, the son of Gaspar, lord of Thiene, and Mary Porta, persons of the first rank among the nobility of the territory of Vicenza, in Veneto Region. His father died when he was two years of age. Quiet and retiring by nature, he was predisposed to piety by his mother. Cajetan studied law in Padua, receiving his degree as '' doctor utriusque juris'' (i.e., in civil and canon law) at age 24. In 1506 he worked as a diplomat for Pope Julius II, with whom he helped reconcile the Republic of Venice. But he was not ordained a priest until the year 1516. Giovanni Antonio Fasolo
Giovanni Antonio Fasolo (1530–1572) was a late Renaissance Italian painter of the Venetian school, active in Vicenza and surroundings. A native of Mandello del Lario, he appears to have trained in the Venice studio of Paolo Veronese. By 1557, he was an independent fresco decorator. He worked at the frescoes of some buildings by Andrea Palladio, like Villa Caldogno (with Giovanni Battista Zelotti), Casa Cogollo, and Palazzo del Capitaniato (his last work). He also decorated with Zelotti the Palazzo Porto Colleoni Thiene at Thiene. In 1572 he died by an incident when he was working at the ceiling of the loggia of the Palazzo del Capitaniato in Vicenza. One of his pupils was Alessandro Maganza. Davide Rigon (born 26 August 1986) is an Italian professional racing driver who is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and other selected GT races for AF Corse. C.A.I. Second S.p.A. was an Italian airline operating flights for its parent company, Alitalia. When Alitalia merged with Air One, it didn't close C.A.I. (at that time known as Volare S.p.A. and then Volareweb.com) so that it could preserve slots at Milan Linate Airport. It was once a low-cost subsidiary of the old Alitalia-LAI. Giovanni Battista Zelotti
Giovanni Battista Zelotti (; 1526 – 28 August 1578) was an Italian painter of the late Renaissance, active in Venice and her mainland territories. He appears to have been born in Verona, then part of the Venetian mainland, and trained with Antonio Badile and Domenico Riccio, as well as perhaps Titian. Bernasconi claims he trained with his uncle ''Paolo Farinati''. He is called ''Battista da Verona'' by Vasari, and was also known as ''Battista Farinati''.
