The Guest People
''The Guest People'' () is a Singaporean Chinese drama produced by Television Corporation of Singapore (now Mediacorp Channel 8) in 1997. Set in the 1930s to 1950s, the story is about four young Hakka men who migrated to Singapore from China and were caught in the tumultuous anti-colonial period of the country's history. It stars Christopher Lee, Chen Hanwei, Xie Shaoguang, Jason Oh, Ann Kok and Jacelyn Tay. Others in the cast include Chen Huihui, Li Yinzhu, Chen Shucheng, Huang Peiru, Mai Hao Wei and Liang Wei Dong. The drama was nominated for the Best Drama awards at the Asian Television Awards and the New York Television Festival in 1998. Christopher Lee (Malaysian Actor)
Christopher Lee Meng Soon (; born 23 July 1971) is a Malaysian actor, host and singer based in Singapore. Early life Lee studied up to form 5 in Sekolah Menengah Seri Kota, Air Leleh, Malacca, Malaysia. He was an active student in school, serving as a prefect and representing his school in rugby competitions. He has an older sister and two younger brothers, the youngest being Frederick Lee Meng Chong, who is also an actor and model in Malaysia. Career Lee joined TCS on a contract in 1995 after emerging as 1st runner-up in the male category of the Star Search programme in 1995. Chen Shucheng
Tan Soo Seng, better known as Chen Shucheng, (, born 21 October 1949) is a Singaporean actor and television host. He is one of Mediacorp's few artistes still active from the "black and white" era. Career Acting Chen joined Mediacorp, then known as Radio Television Singapore (RTS), as an actor in 1971. Since then he has portrayed many different roles ranging from a young nerdy doctor in '' The Awakening'', a rich flirting playboy in ''Pretty Faces'', the famous philanthropist, Tan Kah Kee in the war drama, ''The Price of Peace'' to a strict and unbending father in '' Love at 0°C'' . Mai Hao Wei
Mak Ho Wai (; 7 January 1946 – 14 April 2022) was a Hong Kong / Singaporean television artiste with TVB and then Mediacorp. Early life and education Mak studied at the National Taiwan Ocean University, receiving a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering. He later earned a master's degree in Chinese language studies at the Beijing Normal University at the age of 60. Career After graduating from National Taiwan Ocean University, Mak was a radio DJ in Taiwan a period of time. Having spent ten years in Taiwan, he was proficient in speaking standard Mandarin. Mak enrolled into the twelfth cohort of the TVB artiste training class in 1982 to fulfil the wishes of his younger brother, , who was also an actor with TVB.
