The Easybeats
The Easybeats were an Australian rock band that formed in Sydney in late 1964. They enjoyed a level of success that in Australia rivalled The Beatles. They became the first Australian rock act to score an international hit, with the 1966 single " Friday on My Mind", as well as one of the few in Australia to foreground their original material. During their six-year run, they scored 15 top 40 hits in Australia, including "She's So Fine" and " Women (Make You Feel Alright)", with other No. 1 hits including "Friday on My Mind" and " Sorry". They broke up in 1969, and reformed for one tour in 1986. Singer Stevie Wright died in 2015 and rhythm guitarist George Young died in 2017. Albert Productions, a division of music publishing and recording company Albert Music, is one of Australia's longest established independent record labels to specialise in rock and roll music. The label was founded in 1963 by Ted Albert, whose family owned and operated the Sydney music publishing house J. Albert & Son. It features singles, EP, album tracks, unreleased studio & demo recordings and other rarities spanning the group's recording career. It reached #37 on the Australian albums charts. This album was re-released in 1986 on compact disc. The album was remastered by Don Bartley and reissued on compact disc in Australia on 29 September 2017 This was a 4 CD disc release with no additional content and each disc containing the tracklisting of each side of the original vinyl LP. Stephen Carlton Wright (20 December 1947 – 27 December 2015) was an Australian musician and songwriter who has been called Australia's first international pop star. During 1964–69, he was lead singer of Sydney-based rock and roll band the Easybeats, widely regarded as the greatest Australian pop band of the 1960s. Early hits for the Easybeats were co-written by Wright with bandmate George Young, including: "She's So Fine" (No. 3, 1965), "Wedding Ring" (No. 7, 1965), "Women (Make You Feel Alright)" (No. 4, 1966), "Come and See Her" (No. 3, 1966), "I'll Make You Happy" (track on ''Easyfever'' EP, No. 1, 1966), and "Sorry" (No. 1, 1966). George Young (rock Musician)
George Redburn Young (6 November 1946 – 22 October 2017) was an Australian musician, songwriter and record producer. He was a founding member of the bands the Easybeats and Flash and the Pan, and was one-half of the songwriting and production duo Vanda & Young with his long-time musical collaborator Harry Vanda. Born in Scotland, Young moved to Australia with his family as a teenager, and became a naturalised citizen. He was a member of the 1960s Australian rock band the Easybeats, and co-wrote with bandmate Harry Vanda the international hits "Friday on My Mind" and " Love Is in the Air", the latter recorded by John Paul Young (who is unrelated). Vanda and Young were also the producers of early work by the Australian hard rock band AC/DC, formed by his younger brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Johannes Hendrikus Jacob van den Berg (born 22 March 1946), better known as his stage name Harry Vanda, is a Dutch Australian musician, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as lead guitarist of the 1960s Australian rock band the Easybeats who with fellow member George Young formed the 1970s and 1980s songwriting and record production duo Vanda & Young. Early life Vanda's family migrated to Australia from the Netherlands in 1963, and settled in Sydney. Vanda, who had been a guitarist with the Hague-based band the Starfighters, came to fame in 1964–65 as the lead guitarist of the Easybeats. In the same year he met rhythm guitarist George Young at the Villawood migrant hostel.
