Thambi Durai
''Thambi Durai'' is a 1997 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Senthilnathan and produced by K. Santhamani. The film stars Saravanan, Sukanya and M. N. Nambiar. The film was completed in 1994 but had a delayed release in 1997. Plot The film starts with narration that the film is based on real event happened at Irukkangudi. Thambidurai (Saravanan) who stays with his grandfather (MN Nambiar) is a poor boatman falls in love with a rich girl Shenbagam (Sukanya) who is tortured by her rich stepmother (Manjula Vijayakumar). Thambidurai and Shenbagam elope and get married. Shenbagam's uncle (Nalinikanth) who wants to marry her together plots with a womanising landlord (Senthilnathan) to separate them. Senthilnathan Jambulingam is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer and television actor who predominantly works in Tamil cinema and serials, based in Chennai. He is best known for his action-masala films. As of 2013, he has directed more than twenty five films. Personal life He is the son of director Jambulingam who directed M. G. Tiruchirapalli Srinivasan Rangarajan, professionally credited by his pseudonym Vaali (born 29 October 1931 – 18 July 2013) was an Indian poet who is the highest songs wrote lyricist in cinema and whose works were in Tamil, had a five-decade long association with the Tamil film industry, wrote over 15,000 songs. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood. After a few years, Chattu Nair married Ammalu in an arranged marriage. Vasudevan was born on 15 June 1944 as their eighth and youngest child. Even though he was a Malayali, as was the case with the majority of contemporary South Indian migrants to Malaya then, his surroundings in Malaysia was dominated by the Tamil language and culture. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Lyricist for his songs in movies like ''Thayagam'', '' En Rasavin Manasile'' and ''Neeyum Naanum'' in 1996, 1991 and 2010 respectively. Saravanan is an Indian actor who has appeared in Tamil-language films. He made his acting debut through ''Vaidhehi Vanthachu'' (1991), where he portrayed the lead role. He continued to play the lead roles in films throughout the 1990s, later turning into a producer and director for his films. After a sabbatical, Saravanan made a comeback through ''Paruthiveeran'' (2007) in a supporting role, and has since continued to play character roles in Tamil films.
