Teuge
Teuge is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland, between Apeldoorn and Deventer. It is part of the municipality of Voorst. Its population is around 800 people and it is best known for being the location of Teuge International Airport. The main access road is the N344. Since 2001, Ecotribe Teuge is a squatted former barracks. History The village was first mentioned in 1333 or 1334 as "oppen Toghe". The etymology is unknown. Teuge was home to 537 people in 1840. In 1935, Teuge Airport was constructed. The airport was enlarged by the Germans during World War II and an assembly hall was constructed for V-1 and V-2 flying bombs. In 1960s flight schools started to use the airport. It is located in the village of Teuge, part of the Voorst municipality in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. The airport has a single runway, oriented 08/26 with a length of . A second runway, aligned 03/21, existed up to 2012. It saw limited use and was closed when the land on the north side of the airport was sold. Next to general aviation, the airfield is also used extensively for skydiving and glider flying. Though no scheduled international flights take place from the airport, customs services are available upon request, hence it is still designated an international airport. Several companies at the airport specialise in aerial photography, and it is the home airfield of aerobatics pilot Frank Versteegh, a former Red Bull Air Race participant. Ecotribe Teuge
Ecotribe Teuge is a collective of people living on a squatted terrain in the Dutch countryside. It is located on the edge of the village of Teuge, in the province of Gelderland. The buildings were constructed by the Nazis and formerly used to house Moluccan soldiers. The site was occupied in 2001, when people began to live there in an off-the-grid and self-sufficient manner. Since 2018, there are plans by the province to develop the terrain. History The site is located on the edge of the village of Teuge, halfway along the N344 road between Apeldoorn and Deventer. The terrain consists of 11 buildings built by the Nazi occupiers during World War II. The bunkers built to serve the nearby airfield (now Teuge International Airport) were disguised as farm buildings and were never destroyed, later falling under the ownership of the Dutch Ministry of Defence. South Maluku, also South Moluccas, officially the Republic of South Maluku, was an unrecognised secessionist republic that claimed the islands of Ambon, Buru, and Seram, which make up the Indonesian province of Maluku. The V-2 (german: Vergeltungswaffe 2, lit=Retaliation Weapon 2), with the technical name ''Aggregat 4'' (A-4), was the world’s first long-range guided ballistic missile. The V-1 flying bomb (german: Vergeltungswaffe 1 "Vengeance Weapon 1") was an early cruise missile. Its official Ministry of Aviation (Nazi Germany), Reich Aviation Ministry () designation was Fi 103. It was also known to the Allies as the buzz bomb or doodlebug and in Germany as (cherry stone) or (maybug). The V-1 was the first of the (V-weapons) deployed for the terror bombing of London. It was developed at Peenemünde Army Research Center in 1939 by the at the beginning of the Second World War, and during initial development was known by the codename "Cherry Stone". Squatting In The Netherlands
Squatting in the Netherlands (Dutch: kraken) is the occupation of unused or derelict buildings or land without the permission of the owner. The modern squatters movement (Dutch: kraakbeweging) began in the 1960s in the Netherlands. By the 1980s, it had become a powerful anarchist social movement which regularly came into conflict with the state, particularly in Amsterdam with the Vondelstraat and coronation riots. Some squats in cities have successfully legalised into still extant social centres and housing cooperatives such as ACU in Utrecht, the Grote Broek in Nijmegen, the Landbouwbelang in Maastricht, ORKZ in Groningen, the Poortgebouw in Rotterdam and Vrankrijk in Amsterdam. Deventer
Deventer (; Sallands: ) is a city and municipality in the Salland historical region of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2020, Deventer had a population of 100,913. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but it also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country.
