''Moby-Dick'' (1851) is a novel by Herman Melville. While some characters only appear in the shore-based chapters at the beginning of the book, and others are captains and crewmembers of other ships, the majority of the characters are officers or crewmembers of the whaling ship, ''Pequod''. Ishmael Ishmael is the narrator of the book. He recounts the whaling voyage led by Captain Ahab while also explaining the history and mechanics of whaling and attempting to promote the nobility of the trade. He primarily observes the major events of the novel as opposed to being an active participant in them. In the epilogue, it is revealed that Ishmael was the only survivor of the sinking of the ''Pequod''. The name ''Ishmael'' has come to symbolize orphans, exiles, and social outcasts in reference to the biblical character from which his name is taken. Jens Stub (3 March 1764 – 24 October 1819) was a Norwegian priest and politician. He was vicar on the island of Veøya and served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. Biography He was the son of district stipendiary magistrate (''sorenskriver'') Johan Daniel Stub (1736–1802) and grandson of Lauritz Stub (1708-1774), both of whom served as judges in Bergen. He grew up in the parish of Eid in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. His brother was Gerhard Heiberg Stub (1781-1831), a merchant in Bergen. In August 1793 he married his cousin Gjertrud Helene Heiberg (1774–1852) at Talvik in Finnmark. Jens Stub was a priest by education. He earned his degree in theology ( Cand.theol.) in 1788. Ambrosius Stub
Ambrosius Christoffersen Stub (May 1705 – 15 July 1758) was a Danish poet. Life Stub was born in Gummerup on the island of Funen, but his exact birth date is unknown. He was baptized at Verninge in Odense on 17 May 1705. The son of a tailor, he was able to attend the Latin school of Odense (''Odense Katedralskole'') due to the generosity of noblemen who employed his father. From 1725, he studied theology at the University of Copenhagen. In Copenhagen he developed an interest in opera and music, nurtured by visits of touring opera companies from Italy and Germany. For a living, he worked as a poet and secretary for several noble families. After studying for almost 10 years, he left the university without a degree in 1734, and returned home. There he met Mette Cathrine Schousboe (1716-1747), a minister's daughter, whom he married in 1735. The couple lived at Mette's inherited farm which they were unable to manage well. Alexander Stubb
Cai-Göran Alexander Stubb (born 1 April 1968) is a Finnish politician who served as Prime Minister of Finland from 2014 to 2015. He rose to politics as a researcher specialized in the affairs of the European Union and was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 as a member of the National Coalition Party. In 2008, Stubb was appointed as Minister for Foreign Affairs following a scandal surrounding his predecessor, Ilkka Kanerva. In 2011 Stubb stood for election to the Finnish Parliament for the first time and was elected MP with the second highest vote count in the election, which led to Stubb becoming the Minister for Europe and Foreign Trade in Jyrki Katainen's cabinet.
