Susi Lanner (August 27, 1911 – March 16, 2006) was an Austrian film actress who played major roles in German productions from 1932 to 1937. Biography Born Mechthilde Reif in Vienna, Austria, after schooling in drama, dance, and singing, Lanner appeared as a singer and dancer in operettas and revues in her native Vienna. She made her film debut in 1932 opposite Brigitte Helm and Oskar Karlweis in the comedy '' Three on a Honeymoon''. Then she made a name for herself as a supporting actress, before she advanced to talented co-star at the side of Heinz Rühmann, Theo Lingen and Hans Moser. Paul Wegener
Paul Wegener (11 December 1874 – 13 September 1948) was a German actor, writer, and film director known for his pioneering role in German expressionist cinema. Acting career At the age of 20, Wegener decided to end his law studies and concentrate on acting, touring the provinces before joining Max Reinhardt's acting troupe in 1906. In 1912, he turned to the new medium of motion pictures and appeared in the 1913 version of '' The Student of Prague''. It was while making this film that he first heard the old Jewish legend of the Golem and proceeded to adapt the story to film, co-directing and co-writing the script with Henrik Galeen. His first version of the tale '' The Golem'' (1915, now lost) was a success and firmly established Wegener's reputation. Camilla Martha Horn (25 April 1903 – 14 August 1996) was a German dancer and a film star of the silent and sound era. She starred in several Hollywood films of the late 1920s and in a few British and Italian productions. Biography The daughter of a civil servant, Horn was educated as a dressmaker and worked at Erfurt. In 1925, together with Marlene Dietrich, she worked as an extra in the German film '' Madame Wants No Children'', and later she was seen in a musical review by director Alexander Korda. She made her great breakthrough in 1926, when she replaced Lillian Gish as "Gretchen" in F. W. Murnau's UFA production of ''Faust''.
