Streetball
Streetball (or street basketball) is a variation of basketball, typically played on outdoor courts and featuring significantly less formal structure and enforcement of the game's rules. As such, its format is more conducive to allowing players to publicly showcase their own individual skills. Streetball may also refer to other urban sports played on asphalt. It is particularly popular and important in New York City, though its popularity has spread across the United States due to the game's adaptability. Some places and cities in the United States have organized streetball programs, operated similarly to midnight basketball programs. Many cities also host their own weekend-long streetball tournaments, with Hoop-It-Up and the Houston Rockets' Blacktop Battle being two of the most popular. Rafer Alston
Rafer Jamel Alston (born July 24, 1976), also known as Skip to my Lou or Skip 2 My Lou, is an American retired professional basketball player. Alston first gained basketball fame playing in the AND1 Mixtape Tour in 1999 before making the National Basketball Association (NBA). While in the NBA from 1999 to 2010, he played for six teams including the 2008–09 Orlando Magic team that made the NBA Finals. Streetball legend Alston grew up in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York City, and was a standout streetball basketball player, known for his untraditional ballhandling moves that made him adept at outmaneuvering defenders. AND1 Mixtape Tour
The AND1 Live Tour, formerly known as the AND1 Mixtape Tour, is a traveling basketball competition and exhibition presented by B-Ball and Company and the basketball apparel manufacturer AND1. A group of streetball players, along with Emcee Rell and B-Ball and Company CEO Linda Hill, travel from town to town and challenge teams composed of local talent. Games tend to be characterized by isolation one-on-one ball handling moves and acrobatic slam dunks and alley-oops. The tour was televised in half-hour "Streetball" segments on ESPN2, and were compiled into highlight reels, offered under the mark AND1 Mixtape, which were sold on DVD. AND1 has released 10 volumes. Ball4Real
Ball4Real was the name of a traveling basketball exhibition and competition which made its debut in June 2007. A group of well-known streetball players traveled from city to city to challenge teams composed of local talent. Games tended to be characterized by complicated dribbling, ballhandling, and passing, acrobatic slam dunks, and a looser interpretation of rules. Origin and players Ball4Real was created by former members of the AND1 streetball team as well as Lisa Fusco, the former general manager of the AND1 Mixtape Tour and present Ball4Real CEO. The players and Fusco were all part owners of the tour. The 2007 team consisted of the players who defected from AND1 along with some new players. The group toured through 2007 in arenas, but attendance was low, and the group disbanded in February 2008, with many of its players joining the Ball4LifeTour. Kevin Butler (streetball Player)
Kevin "Bizness" Butler is an American streetball player known for his exceptional dunking ability. He is also known for his appearances on the ESPN television show '' City Slam''. Butler is from Oakland, California and is 6 foot 2 inches tall. Butler attended basketball powerhouse St. Joseph Notre Dame high school in Alameda, the same high school that produced Jason Kidd and several other high-profile All-American players. Grayson "The Professor" Scott Boucher (born June 10, 1984) is an American streetball player, actor, and former semi-professional basketball player. He is most known for playing on the highly stylized, international AND1 Mixtape Tour; he has also appeared in several movies, Netflix’s Hustle and ''Ball Don't Lie''. Boucher is 5'10" and weighs 145 pounds (178 cm, 66 kg) and his jersey number is 12. Boucher attended McNary High School but transferred to nearby Salem Academy where he made all-state honors. Emmanuel Bibb (born February 25, 1973), also known as Hard Work, is an American streetball player from Detroit, Michigan. He is 6-foot 2-inches tall and plays shooting guard. In streetball, he is best known for his appearances on the AND1 Mixtape Tour, which airs on ESPN. In conventional basketball, Bibb currently plays for the Detroit Panthers of the ABA. Bibb played college basketball at the University of Detroit Mercy. Kenneth D. Brunner II (born December 8, 1978) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. Brunner played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas and the Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. Early life Bruner was born on December 8, 1978, in Los Angeles California. Traveling (basketball)
In basketball, travelling is a violation of the rules that occurs when a player holding the ball moves one or both their feet illegally. Traveling is also called, predominantly in a streetball game, "walking" or "steps". If the pivot foot is lifted, a pass or try for made basket must be made before the pivot foot is replaced to the floor. In the NBA and FIBA, players are also given a "gather step". In the NBA and FIBA, when a player has taken more than two steps without the ball being dribbled, a traveling violation is called. The NCAA and NFHS do not allow two steps. In 2018, FIBA revised the rule so that one can take a "gather step" before taking the two steps. A travel can also be called via carrying or an unestablished pivot foot.
