Star Awards For Best Supporting Actress
The Star Awards for Best Supporting Actress is an award presented annually at the Star Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1994. The category was introduced in 1995, at the 2nd Star Awards ceremony; Zhu Xiufeng received the award for her role in ''Chronicle of Life'' and it is given in honour of a Mediacorp actress who has delivered an outstanding performance in a supporting role. The nominees are determined by a team of judges employed by Mediacorp; winners are selected by a majority vote from the entire judging panel. Since its inception, the award has been given to 20 actresses. Lin Meijiao is the most recent winner in this category for her role in ''My Star Bride''. Since the ceremony held in 2009, Xiang Yun remains as the only actress to win in this category four times, surpassing Lin who has three wins. Lin Meijiao
Lin Meijiao () is a Singaporean actress. Life and career Lin was educated at Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School. Lin has acted in many drama serials and is a multi-nominee for the Best Supporting Actress category at the annual Star Awards. She was awarded the Best Supporting Actress at the 1995 Shanghai International Film Festival for her role in the drama serial ''Silk of Love''. Love Me, Love Me Not (真爱无敌) is a romance drama about two angels who must fulfill a mission to make certain people fall in love. It stars Jacelyn Tay, Xie Shaoguang, Wong Li-Lin, Chen Hanwei and Dennis Chew. Plot Two angels, Hong Luanxing (Jacelyn Tay, the Love Star) and Gu Guaxing (Wong Li-Lin, the Lonesome Star), are sent to Earth as a punishment for breaking a rule in heaven. On Earth, they take on new identities as Song Xingxing, a lawyer, and Song Jingjing, a matchmaker from the Social Development Board. Their punishment is to complete conflicting tasks: Hong Luanxing, the Love Star, now is a lawyer and has to break couples up. Gu Guaxing, the Lonesome Star, now has to pair singles up. ''The Legendary Swordsman'' is a Singaporean television series adapted from Louis Cha's novel ''The Smiling, Proud Wanderer''. It was first broadcast on TCS-8 (now MediaCorp Channel 8) in Singapore in 2000. Hainan Kopi Tales (琼园咖啡香) is a Singaporean Chinese drama serial produced by Mediacorp which aired in year 2000 on Channel 8. The drama serial follow the lives of Hainanese in Singapore from the 1960s to the 1990s. Story Using Qiong Yuan, a Hainan coffeeshop as a backdrop, this nostalgic drama explores the Hainanese way of life from the 60s to the 80s. Star Awards 2000 is the eighth installment of the annual Star Awards presented by the Television Corporation of Singapore to honour its artistes who work on Channel 8. The ceremony were hosted by Timothy Chao and Yvette Tsui. The award ceremony saw numerous changes in the award ceremony, with the Taiwan popularity votes being discontinued and were solely decided by the Malaysia viewers alone, new categories were introduced (such as the Best News/Current Affairs Presenter, now as two separate categories), and nominations for both Primetime and Daytime programs were merged. Florence Tan
Florence Tan (, born 30 June 1977) is a Malaysian actress based in Singapore. She was prominently a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1997 to 2006 and managed by Lafeng Entertainment but continues to film on an ad-hoc basis. She left Mediacorp in 2006 to expand her career in China and Asia. Career Tan joined the TCS (predecessor of MediaCorp) after winning the gender category in the Star Search 1997.
