Stéphane Pasquier
Stéphane Pasquier (born 17 January 1978 in Paris) is a French flat racing jockey. In October 2006, he won the 85th Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He began as an apprentice for the trainer Robert Collet, and rode in his first race on 6 December 1994, on Raspoutine at Saint-Cloud Racecourse. His first victory was in his second race, riding Floris at Amiens racecourse on 9 September 1995. He is a turbulent and strong character, and confesses to have lost his way in 1997, needing guidance from Robert Collet to help him back. Pasquier won his first Listed Race in 1999, then his first Group 3 race in May 2001, riding Acceleration in the Prix Corrida. During the winter of 2001–2002, he rode in Singapore and on returning to France won his first Group 2 race, the Prix Greffulhe. Prix Maurice De Nieuil
The Prix Maurice de Nieuil is a Group 2 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds aged four years or older. It is run at Longchamp over a distance of 2,800 metres (about 1¾ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in July. History The event was established in 1920, and it was initially called the Prix des Maréchaux. It was named in honour of the French and Allied marshals (''maréchaux'') who served in World War I. The race was originally staged at Saint-Cloud, and it was open to horses aged three or older. The early runnings were contested over 3,100 metres, and the distance was cut to 2,800 metres in 1928. Christiane "Criquette" Head (born 6 November 1948 at Marly-le-Roi, near Maisons-Laffitte, France) is a retired French racehorse trainer. Known as Criquette, she was born into the Thoroughbred horse racing business. Her great grandfather was a jockey-turned-trainer as was her grandfather William Head who was a very successful jockey, trainer, and owner in both flat racing and steeplechase events. Special Duty (foaled 12 February 2007) is a British-bred, French-trained champion Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She won two of her four starts as a two-year-old including the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes and the Group Two Prix Robert Papin and was named European Champion Two-year old Filly at the Cartier Racing Awards. As a three-year-old she recorded a rare double when taking the British Classic 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and its French equivalent, the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp. What made the achievement more unusual was that in both classics she crossed the line in second place and was awarded the victory following a disqualification. The 1000 Guineas Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old fillies. It is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late April or early May on the Sunday following the 2000 Guineas Stakes. It is the second of Britain's five Classic races, and the first of two restricted to fillies. The title of French flat racing Champion Jockey is awarded to the jockey who rides most flat winners in France. The championship used to run the whole calendar year, but since 2022, it runs from 1st March to 31st October. The change was made to revive the competition and make it more appealing to younger jockeys. Rail Link (26 March 2003 – 20 May 2022) was a thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2006. Background Rail Link was trained by André Fabre, and was ridden by jockey Christophe Soumillon or Stéphane Pasquier for owner Khalid Abdullah. Racing career Unraced at two, he made an inauspicious start to his three-year-old career, unseating his rider on his debut at Saint-Cloud, and then finishing second in its next race at Chantilly Racecourse. David Trezeguet
David Sergio Trezeguet (born 15 October 1977) is a French former professional footballer who played as a striker. Trezeguet began his career in Argentina with Club Atlético Platense at the age of eight, progressing through their youth system to their first team, where he made his debut in the Primera División in 1994. After one season, he transferred to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, where he would form a striking partnership with international teammate Thierry Henry, winning the league in the 1996–97 season.
