SheBelieves Cup
The SheBelieves Cup is an invitational women's soccer tournament held in different cities in the United States in late February or early March. In its first three years (2016, 2017 and 2018), it was contested by the same four teams: the United States, England, France, and Germany. Since 2019 the tournament line up had featured different teams each year. The SheBelieves cup is played in late February or early March, at the same time as the Algarve Cup, the Arnold Clark Cup, the Cyprus Cup, the Turkish Women's Cup, the Pinatar Cup and the Tournoi de France. History The SheBelieves movement was inspired by the U.S. Women's National Team in their 2015 run-up to the Women's World Cup. The movement is meant to encourage young women to achieve their dreams, regardless of whether or not they are tied to athletics. Tierna Lillis Davidson (born September 19, 1998) is an American soccer player for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States national team. She was drafted first overall by the Chicago Red Stars in the 2019 NWSL College Draft after playing three years at Stanford. Featuring national teams from Czech Republic, Iceland, New Zealand, and hosts United States, it began on February 17 and ended on February 23, 2022. The United States defended their title, winning their third straight and fifth overall title. Catarina Macario was named the most valuable player of the tournament. Featuring national teams from Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and hosts United States, it began on February 18 and ended on February 24, 2021. Argentina replaced Japan after it withdrew due to the COVID-19 pandemic. United States successfully defended their title, capturing their fourth title. The 2020 SheBelieves Cup was the fifth edition of the SheBelieves Cup, an invitational women's football tournament held in the United States. Featuring national teams from Spain, England, Japan, and hosts United States, it began on March 5 and ended on March 11, 2020, making it the last soccer tournament in the United States to be completed before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all professional sports in the country. The 2017 SheBelieves Cup was the second edition of the SheBelieves Cup, an invitational women's soccer tournament held in the United States. It took place between March 1 and 7, 2017. The four teams were ranked No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 in the FIFA Women's World rankings, thus making the tournament the most important friendly Cup of the year. Goal Difference
Goal difference, goal differential or points difference is a form of tiebreaker used to rank sport teams which finish on equal points in a league competition. Either "goal difference" or "points difference" is used, depending on whether matches are scored by goals (as in ice hockey and association football) or by points (as in rugby union and basketball). Goal difference is calculated as the number of goals scored in all league matches minus the number of goals conceded, and is sometimes known simply as plus–minus. Goal difference was first introduced as a tiebreaker in association football, at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, and was adopted by the Football League in England five years later. It has since spread to many other competitions, where it is typically used as either the first or, after tying teams' head-to-head records, second tiebreaker.
