Seveso (; lmo, label= Lombard, Séves ) is a town and ''comune'' in the Province of Monza and Brianza, in the Region of Lombardy. The economy of the town has traditionally been based on the furniture industry. Its name comes from the river of the same name which crosses the ''comune'' in a north-south direction. Seveso received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on 18 June 2003. Geography The town is situated to the north of Milan in the Brianza lowlands. The territory of the commume is highly urbanised, with the majority of inhabitants living in the town. Seveso lies on the national trunk road ''Statale dei Giovi'', which connects Milan to Como and on the Milan-Meda motorway. Seveso railway station is located on the Milan–Asso railway, while Seveso-Baruccana railway station is located on the Saronno–Seregno railway. Milan–Asso Railway
The Milan–Asso railway is a regional railway line with standard track gauge which links Milan to Canzo crossing for Erba and other towns in Brianza. The most northern terminal is the station of Canzo- Asso, which is located in Canzo's territory but is commonly known as Asso in the short form. That, because there is another station on the line called Canzo station and Canzo- Asso is next to Asso's boundary and serves this commune too. The management of the railway and of the station is performed by FerrovieNord S.p.A., a society of the FNM group, which will hold authority until March 17, 2016, thanks to renewed concessions with the Decreto Dirigenziale del Ministero dei Trasporti e della Navigazione n. 3239/2000. Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs), or simply dioxins, are a group of long-lived polyhalogenated organic compounds that are primarily anthropogenic, and contribute toxic, persistent organic pollution in the environment. They are commonly but inaccurately referred to as dioxins for simplicity, because every PCDD molecule contains a dibenzo-1,4-dioxin skeletal structure, with 1,4-dioxin as the central ring. Meda, Lombardy
Meda is a city and ''comune'' in the province of Monza and Brianza, located in the northern Italian region of Lombardy, close to Milan and Como. It is a center of furniture production. Meda is served by Meda railway station. History Meda's history is linked to the history of its convent and of its foundation. From the latter's location on a mound ( la, meta) stems the town's name. According to legend, the Saints Aimo and Vermund, counts of Turbigo, were attacked by two wild boars while hunting. To save their lives, they swore to God that, if saved, they would build a convent right there. The convent was built around 780 near an old little church dedicated to St. Vittore.
