Serj Tankian
Serj Tankian (born August 21, 1967) is an Armenian-American singer, musician, songwriter, political activist and entrepreneur. He is best known as the lead vocalist, primary lyricist, keyboardist, and occasional rhythm guitarist of heavy metal band System of a Down, which was formed in 1994. Tankian has released five albums with System of a Down (''System of a Down'', ''Toxicity'', ''Steal This Album!'', '' Mezmerize'', '' Hypnotize'') and five solo albums (''Elect the Dead'', ''Imperfect Harmonies'', ''Harakiri'', ''Orca'', ''Jazz-Iz-Christ''), and '' Elasticity'', as well as collaborating with musicians such as rapper Tech N9ne and folk singer Arto Tunçboyacıyan. Eastern Armenian
Eastern Armenian ( ''arevelahayeren'') is one of the two standardized forms of Modern Armenian, the other being Western Armenian. The two standards form a pluricentric language. Eastern Armenian is spoken in Armenia, Artsakh, Russia, as well as Georgia, and by the Armenian community in Iran. Although the Eastern Armenian spoken by Armenians in Armenia and Iranian-Armenians are similar, there are pronunciation differences with different inflections. Armenians from Iran also have some words that are unique to them. Jazz-Iz-Christ
''Jazz-Iz-Christ'' is the debut studio album by Jazz-iz Christ, a group fronted by Armenian-American singer Serj Tankian. The album was released on July 23, 2013, by Serjical Strike Records. The album has essential participation of the renowned pianist Tigran Hamasyan, flautist Valeri Tolstov, and trumpet player Tom Duprey. It also features additional performances from Stewart Copeland and actor/musician David Alpay and Vincent Pedulla. Unlike much of Tankian's previous discography, only 4 of the 15 tracks features Serj's vocals ("Distant Thing", "Song of Sand", "Garuna", and "Miso Soup"). All the other tracks are instrumental, except for "End of Time", which features a female vocalist. According to Tankian, Jazz-Iz-Christ is "a combination. ''Harakiri'' is the third studio album by System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian. It was released on July 10, 2012 as a follow-up to his 2010 album ''Imperfect Harmonies''. The album also constitutes the first of four then-upcoming albums, the other three being ''Orca'', ''Jazz-Iz-Christ'' and ''Fuktronic''. Background Tankian has described the album as "the most up-tempo punk rock oriented record that I've written probably since the System days." ''Imperfect Harmonies'' is the second studio album by Armenian-American singer Serj Tankian. The album was released on September 21, 2010 through Reprise Records and Serjical Strike Records. Release and promotion ''Imperfect Harmonies'' was originally scheduled to be released on September 7, 2010, but was later pushed back two weeks to September 21. The paper manufacturing plant that Tankian selected to print the album's booklet ran out of tree-free paper and needed more time to obtain more of the material. Tankian is environmentally conscious and researched this type of paper on his own. Other releases by Tankian that use tree-free paper include his first solo effort '' Elect the Dead'', and '' Hypnotize'' and '' Mezmerize'', the last two releases by his band System of a Down. It was released on November 22, 2005, six months after the release of its companion album '' Mezmerize'', and just one year following the album's completion. ''Mezmerize'' is the fourth studio album by Armenian-American heavy metal band System of a Down, released on May 17, 2005, by American Recordings and Columbia Records. Upon its release, the album received acclaim from critics. At a length of just over 36 minutes, ''Mezmerize'' is the band's shortest studio album. Background Despite the time difference between releases, ''Mezmerize'' and '' Hypnotize'' were recorded within the same time frame. The album features guitarist Daron Malakian sharing most of the vocal work with vocalist Serj Tankian, splitting the vocals at least halfway on many of the tracks. In 2018, Malakian and Tankian both independently revealed that at the time of recording the two albums, Tankian was almost out of the band.
