Seattle Mountaineers
The Seattle Mountaineers are a semi-professional basketball club and a member of the American Basketball Association (ABA). They are currently a touring exhibition team that plays against junior and community colleges within the United States and Canada. After four years as an IBL franchise, the Mountaineers jumped to the ABA in 2010 and applied and received non-profit status. Team owner, president and head coach Don Sims is a Christian. The club's basketball program provides an inclusive, Christian-based experience and teaches players the benefits of competition and understand its redemptive value. History The Mountaineers were established in 2005 and began play in the 2006 IBL season. After sitting out 2007 and 2008, the Mountaineers returned to the IBL for the 2009 season. International Basketball League
The International Basketball League (IBL) was a semi-professional men's basketball league featuring teams from the West Coast of the United States. In 2010 the Albany Legends became the first team in the Northeastern United States to join. The IBL also sometimes featured teams from China and Japan which temporarily relocated to the United States for the IBL season. The IBL season typically ran from the end of March through July. History Founded by Portland area sports promoter Mikal Duilio, the league featured rules designed to create a fast-paced, high-scoring brand of basketball. National Athletic Basketball League
The National Athletic Basketball League (NABL) was a men's semi-professional basketball league featuring teams from the West Coast of the United States. The league was founded by Nathan Mumm and Joe Becerra. The NABL was an owner controlled league, which enabled the owners to vote on all aspects of the business. History The 2010 NABL season saw six teams competing: Portland Showtime, Salem Stampede, Snohomish County Explosion, Seattle Aviators/Mountaineers, Tacoma Thunder and Tualatin Rainmakers. On May 25, 2010, the Mountaineers withdrew from the NABL mid-season to join the ABA, citing "The NABL was not a good fit for our organization, and we need to go in another direction." American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Everett Community College (EvCC) is a public community college in Everett, Washington. EvCC educates more than 19,000 students every year at locations throughout Snohomish County, Washington, with most students and faculty at the main campus in Everett. History Everett Junior College (EJC) was founded in 1941, with the college's first students taking classes at a converted elementary school. In 1957, construction began on a new college campus in north Everett. The campus, which originally included seven buildings, opened in 1958. Everett is the county seat and largest city of Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is north of Seattle and is one of the main cities in the metropolitan area and the Puget Sound region.
