Doctor (Doctor Who)
The Doctor is the title character in the long-running BBC Science fiction on television, science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who''. Since the show's inception in 1963, the character has been portrayed by thirteen lead actors. In the programme, "the Doctor" is the alias assumed by a millennia-old humanoid Extraterrestrials in popular culture, alien, a Time Lord who travels through space and time in the TARDIS, frequently with Companion (Doctor Who), companions. The transition to each succeeding actor is explained within the show's narrative through the plot device of "Regeneration (Doctor Who), regeneration", a biological function of the Time Lord race that allows a change of cellular structure and appearance with recovery following a fatal injury. Big Finish Short Trips
The Big Finish ''Short Trips'' are a collection of short story anthologies published by Big Finish Productions based on the BBC Television series '' Doctor Who'', beginning with the collection ''Short Trips: Zodiac'' in December 2002 and ending with the loss of their license in 2009. The ''Short Trips'' name was inherited from similar collections published by the BBC, who decided in March 2000 that it was no longer financially viable to produce collections of short stories. Big Finish Productions negotiated a licence to continue producing these collections, publishing them in smaller runs and in hardback, thus allowing for a higher cover price and increased profit margins than on the BBC collections. In May 2009 and after 28 collections, Big Finish announced that they were ending the ''Short Trips'' series as the BBC had not renewed it for a second licence, eventually halting sales of the books on the Big Finish Website in December 2009. Telos Publishing Ltd. is a publishing company, originally established by David J. Howe and Stephen James Walker, with their first publication being a horror anthology based on the television series '' Urban Gothic'' in 2001. The name comes from that of the fictional planet Telos from the long-running British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. Telos Doctor Who Novellas
The Telos ''Doctor Who'' novellas were a series of tie-in novellas based on the long-running BBC science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', officially licensed by the BBC and published by Telos Publishing. Each novella was published in two formats: standard hardback and deluxe hardback (which included a full colour artwork Frontispiece, and was signed and numbered. The cover material also differed from the standard edition). Ninth Doctor
The Ninth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the BBC science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who''. He is portrayed by Christopher Eccleston during the first series of the show's revival in 2005. New Series Adventures
The ''New Series Adventures'' are a series of novels relating to the long-running BBC science fiction television series, '' Doctor Who''. The 'NSAs', as they are often referred to, are published by BBC Books, and are regularly published twice a year. Beginning with the Tenth Doctor, a series of 'Quick Reads' have also been available, published once a year. With exception to the Quick Reads, all of the NSAs have been published in hardcover to begin with, and have been reprinted in paperback for boxed collections that are exclusive to The Book People and Tesco. The BBC ''Short Trips'' books are a collection of short story anthologies published by BBC Books based on the television series '' Doctor Who'', following a pattern established by Virgin Publishing's '' Decalog'' collections.
