Sawai Gandharva Music Festival
The Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (formerly known as the Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Mahotsav and simply known as Sawai) is an annual Indian Classical music festival held in Pune since 1953. The festival is hosted by the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal (ASPM) and initiated by Bhimsen Joshi as a memorial music conference commemorating the life and work of Joshi's guru, Sawai Gandharva, the festival's namesake. While Joshi was leading the organisation of the festival, performing artists received personal invitations from him to perform at it. With an emphasis on Hindustani Classical Khayal music, instrumentalists, dancers, dhrupadiyas, Bhakti musicians, Ghazal musicians, Qawwaliyas, and Carnatic musicians frequent the concert lineup. Mahesh Kale
Mahesh Kale ( Marathi: महेश काळे; born 12 January 1976) is an Indian Classical vocalist renowned for his specialization in Indian Classical ( Hindustani), Semi-Classical, Devotional music including Natya Sangeet. Mahesh Kale won the 63rd National Film Award as the Best Playback Singer, for classical piece in the film Katyar Kaljat Ghusli. He is a disciple of Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki. He was ranked nineteenth in ''The Times of India'''s Top 20 Most Desirable Men of Maharashtra in 2017. Purushottam Walawalkar
Purushottama ( sa, पुरुषोत्तम, from पुरुष, ''purusha'' "spirit" or "male" and उत्तम, ''uttama'', "highest") is an epithet of the Hindu preserver deity, Vishnu. Arwind Thatte
Pandit Arawind Thatte is a well known harmonium player. He is one of the leading Harmonium players of India, is a reputed accompanist and a soloist. Early life Thatte was born in a family of music lovers, father and elder brother being Harmonium players, he started playing Harmonium at the age of six. He is a self-taught Harmonium player; but also learned Tabla under the guidance of late Pandit G.L. Samant and vocal music initially in Bharat Gayan Samaj, Pune and then under Suhas Datar and Sudhir Datar, Pune and has been a disciple of Pandit Jasraj since 1981. Bhairavi (Hindustani)
Bhairavi (Hindi: भैरवी, ur, , Sindhi: راڳ ڀيروي) is a Hindustani Classical heptatonic ( Sampurna) raga of Bhairavi thaat. In Western musical terms, raga Bhairavi employs the notes of the Phrygian mode, one of the traditional European church modes. Many Indians growing up during 1980s and 1990s will instantly recognize raag Bhairavi as it is the dominant note in popular Doordarshan video 'Mile sur mera tumhara'. Theory Raga Bhairavi is often referred to as the queen of morning Ragas. It produces a rich, devotional atmosphere especially suitable for the genres of Bhajan and the light classical form of Thumri. Thumri
Thumri () is a vocal genre or style of Indian music. The term "thumri" is derived from the Hindi verb ''thumuknaa'', which means "to walk with a dancing gait in such a way that the ankle-bells tinkle." The form is, thus, connected with dance, dramatic gestures, mild eroticism, evocative love poetry and folk songs, especially from Uttar Pradesh, though there are regional variations. The text is romantic or devotional in nature, the lyrics are usually in Uttar Pradesh dialects of Hindi called Awadhi and Brij Bhasha. Thumree is characterized by its sensuality, and by a greater flexibility with the ''raga''. Sangmeshwar Gurav
Sangameshwar Gurav was a singer associated with the Kirana Gharana movement. He was taught musical skills by Ganpatrao Gurav. Career Gurav was born in Jamkhandi where his father, Ganpatrao Gurav, was a court musician. Ganpatrao was a direct descendant of Abdul Karim Khan. He was raised by father in Dharwad. He was a teacher in the music department of Karnatak University where he worked alongside Mallikarjun Mansur, Basavraj Rajguru, and Gangubai Hangal. Awards Gurav received the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi award for Hindustani vocal music in 2001. Death and descendants Gurav died on 7 May 2014 at the age of 86. He is survived by wife, two sons, and two daughters. His son Kaivalya Kumar Gurav continues the musical lineage. His other son Nandikeshwar is a tabla artist employed at Karnatak University. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC, IAST: Puṇe Mahānagarpālikā) is the civic body that governs the inner limits of Pune, India. H1N1
In virology, influenza A virus subtype H1N1 (A/H1N1) is a subtype of influenza A virus. Major outbreaks of H1N1 strains in humans include the Spanish flu, the 1977 Russian flu pandemic and the 2009 swine flu pandemic. It is an orthomyxovirus that contains the glycoproteins hemagglutinin and neuraminidase. For this reason, they are described as H1N1, H1N2 etc., depending on the type of H or N antigens they express with metabolic synergy. Hemagglutinin causes red blood cells to clump together and binds the virus to the infected cell. Neuraminidase is a type of glycoside hydrolase enzyme which helps to move the virus particles through the infected cell and assist in budding from the host cells.
