Chandas (typeface)
Chandas is a Unicode compatible OpenType font for the Devanagari script. The font is notable for containing a particularly extensive set of conjunct ligatures for Sanskrit and also supporting Vedic accents, which were unavailable in other Devanagari fonts when it was released. Though the font was designed primarily for writing Sanskrit, it may be used for all languages written in the Devanagari script, including Hindi, Konkani, Marathi, and Nepali. The font was developed and is maintained by Mihail Bayaryn, and is released under the GNU General Public License.Contents1 Detail 2 Format and License 3 References 4 Related links 5 External linksDetail[edit] The Chandas font "contains 4347 glyphs: 325 half-forms, 960 half-forms context-variations, 2743 ligature-signs."[1] The font is, therefore, useful for those who want to see old Sanskrit texts in their original form

Vamana Purana
Vamana
Vamana
(Sanskrit: वामन, IAST: Vāmana, lit. dwarf), is the fifth avatar of Hindu god Vishnu.[1][2] He incarnates in a time of crisis to restore cosmic balance by creatively defeating the Asura king Mahabali, who had acquired disproportionate power over the universe. According to Hindu mythology, the noble demon king sponsors a sacrifice and gift giving ceremony to consolidate his power, and Vishnu
Vishnu
appears at this ceremony as a dwarf mendicant called Vamana.[1] When Vamana's turn comes to receive a gift, Mahabali
Mahabali
offers him whatever riches and material wealth he would like, but Vamana
Vamana
refuses everything and states he would just like three paces of land. Mahabali finds the dwarf's request amusingly small and irrevocably grants it.[1] Vamana
Vamana
then grows into a giant of cosmic proportions

Chandas (poetry)
Metrical poetry in Kannada and Telugu is called Chandas or Chandassu (Kannada: ಛಂದಸ್ಸು) and (Telugu: ఛందస్సు). Prose and poetry follows the rules of Chandassu to design the structural features of 'poetry'. Chandassu is a definable aspect of many definable and indefinable aspects of poetry. Chandassu generates rhythm to the literature when the rules are properly followed. Rhythm is important to literature as a preliminary attraction.Contents1 Construction of Chandas 2 Types of Chandas 3 See also 4 References 5 External linksConstruction of Chandas[edit] 'Chandas' is constructed based on the number of 'aksharaas' (syllables) in each line (also called paadam) of a poem. As the same lines are repeated (aaVrutta), these are called 'Vruttaas'. If all the lines in a poem follow the same 'types of aksharaas', it is called a 'sama Vrutta'. There are separate Telugu equivalents for English words 'letter' and 'syllable'. The first one is 'varNamu' (letter)
