River Nkusi
The Nkusi River is in the Bunyoro sub-region, in the Western Region of Uganda. Location The Nkusi River begins in the hills west of the town of Kakumiro in the Kakumiro District. It flows in a north-westerly direction to enter a swamp near the village of Kitoma, in the Kibaale District. The river emerges from this swamp and flows westwards to empty into Lake Albert at the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the swamp near Kitoma, the Nkusi River briefly joins the River Kafu. Bunyoro Sub-region
Bunyoro sub-region is a region in Western Uganda that consists of the following districts: * Buliisa District * Hoima District * Kibaale District * Kiryandongo District * Masindi District The area covered by the above districts is coterminous with the traditional Bunyoro Kingdom. Milton Obote abolished the traditional kingdoms in Uganda in 1967. When Yoweri Museveni re-established them in 1993, Bunyoro re-constituted itself. The sub-region is home mainly to the Banyoro ethnic group. The people of Bunyoro are called Banyoro (singular: Munyoro). The Banyoro speak Runyoro, a Bantu language. Kakumiro is a town in the Western Region of Uganda. It is the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Kakumiro District, and the district headquarters are located there.
