Rederiet
''Rederiet'' (''High Seas'' or ''The Shipping Company'') was a (318 episodes) Swedish soap opera that aired on Sveriges Television between August 1992 and April 2002. The cast featured many popular and renowned Swedish actors. The 45-minute episodes were broadcast weekly on Thursday nights on the public-service channel SVT1 and normally had between one and two million viewers. For ten years, ''Rederiet'' was the number-one rated show on Swedish television, along with the rival TV4 show '' Tre Kronor''. The competition for viewers can be compared to that between ''Dynasty'' and ''Dallas''. ''Rederiet'' also gained popularity in Finland on Yle TV2, and the show was a hit in Norway too on TV2. The first season of the show was also sold to Egypt. The later seasons of the series were produced in collaboration with YLE, which led most notably to Finnish actor Åke Lindman appearing in the series. Ken Ring (born January 29, 1979) is a Swedish rap artist. Career He was born in Hässelby, a suburb west of Stockholm, Sweden. Ken wrote the song "Mamma" about his mother becoming ill and dying of cancer when he was 13 years old; it was his breakthrough song, released in 1999. He released his first studio album later that year, entitled ''Vägen tillbaka'', with the hit single "Eld och djupa vatten". After a show on "Vattenfestivalen" in Stockholm later in 1999, Ken Ring got arrested for performing the song called "Spräng regeringen" in which he rapped about rushing the Royal Palace in Stockholm and raping Princess Madeleine. Åke Leonard Lindman (born Åke Leonard Järvinen; 11 January 1928 – 3 March 2009) was a Finnish director and actor. In his youth Lindman was a football player, playing defence for the Finnish national team during the Olympics in Helsinki 1952. He represented the football club HIFK in the Finnish league where he played 81 games and scored 9 goals, he also played in second division for 8 seasons. In the 1960s, the British English Football League club Swindon Town F.C. wanted to sign him, but he turned them down to focus on his acting career. Åke Lindman's breakthrough as an actor came with his role as the stubborn soldier Lehto in the Edvin Laine film'' The Unknown Soldier'' in 1955. Gösta Clarence Isidor Krantz (14 June 1925 – 26 December 2008) was a Swedish actor and revue artist. Gösta Krantz was born in Ektorp in Nacka south-east of Stockholm. He started off as a confectioner, but in 1945 turned into acting after having participated in a popular revue named ''Vi som vill opp''. He later became a permanent stage member of the well-known revue group ''Casino-gänget''. In 1951, Krantz made his film acting debut in ''91:an Karlssons bravader'', and later performed in popular comedies such as ''Åsa-Nisse'', and various television dramas such as ''Rederiet''.
