Me And My Friends
''The Uplift Mofo Party Plan'' is the third studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on September 29, 1987 by EMI Manhattan. Due to prior obligations resulting in temporary personnel changes following the band's formation in 1983, ''The Uplift Mofo Party Plan'' is the only studio album to feature all four founding members of the band on every track: vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. This is also the last album with Slovak before his death from a drug overdose in 1988, and the only full-length album to feature Irons. "Fight Like a Brave" was released as the album's only single, although "Me and My Friends" received minor radio airplay. In 1992, " Behind the Sun" was released as a single and music video to promote ''What Hits!?''. The album features the band's signature funk rock musical style, but also is influenced by reggae and heavy metal. For the album, the Red Hot Chili Peppers recruited new prod ...

Fire (The Jimi Hendrix Experience Song)
"Fire" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and recorded by the Jimi Hendrix Experience in early 1967. It has been described as "an exercise in soul, psychedelic rock, and polyrhythmic jazz-inspired drumming" by AllMusic critic Matthew Greenwald. The song was remixed in stereo for the American release of the album. In 1969, it was released as a stereo single in the UK with the title "Let Me Light Your Fire". One of Hendrix's most popular songs, he frequently played it in concert. Several live recordings have been released and the original song is included on numerous Hendrix compilations, such as ''Smash Hits'', '' Experience Hendrix: The Best of Jimi Hendrix'', '' Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection'', and '' Fire: The Jimi Hendrix Collection''. Overview Despite its sexual overtones, the song had an innocuous origin. Noel Redding, bass player for the Experience, invited Hendrix to his mother's house on a cold New Year's Eve in Folkestone, England, after a performance. Hen ...

"Back in Black" is a song by Australian rock band AC/DC. It was released as the second US single from their seventh album of the same name in 1980 through Atlantic Records. It is notable for its opening guitar riff. The song was written as a tribute to their former singer Bon Scott, who died in February 1980. In 1981, it reached number 37 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. In 2012, it reached number 65 in Australia and number 27 in the United Kingdom. Background Known for its opening guitar riff, the song was AC/DC's tribute to their former singer Bon Scott. His replacement Brian Johnson recalled to ''Mojo'' magazine in 2009 that when the band asked him to write a lyric for this song, "they said, 'it can't be morbid – it has to be for Bon and it has to be a celebration. He added: "I thought, 'Well no pressure there, then' (laughs). I just wrote what ...

Whole Lotta Love
"Whole Lotta Love" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It is the opening track on the band's second album, '' Led Zeppelin II'', and was released as a single in 1969 in several countries; as with other Led Zeppelin songs, no single was released in the United Kingdom. In the United States, it became their first hit and was certified gold. Parts of the song's lyrics were adapted from Willie Dixon's " You Need Love", recorded by Muddy Waters in 1962; originally uncredited to Dixon, a lawsuit in 1985 was settled with a payment to Dixon and credit on subsequent releases. In 2004, the song was ranked number 75 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and in March 2005, '' Q'' placed "Whole Lotta Love" at number three in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. Catholic School Girls Rule
"Catholic School Girls Rule" is a song from the 1985 album ''Freaky Styley'' by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Although never released as a proper radio single, a music video for the song was made and was directed by longtime friend, Dick Rude. The video was only played on Playboy TV because of a nude scene, and because it also featured a controversial scene of Kiedis singing from on a cross. The song was also featured on the band's 1992 compilation album, ''What Hits!?'' and the music video can be found on the VHS/DVD of the same name. Background The song is inspired by an instance where a 14-year-old girl who attended a local Catholic school met singer Anthony Kiedis backstage, who slept with her while on tour before and after discovering her age. The song's chorus features a guitar riff identical to that of the song "Thirsty and Miserable" by Black Flag. Live performances "Catholic School Girls Rule" was performed regularly on the Freaky Styley Tour. Following that tour, it wa ...

Fight Like A Brave
"Fight Like a Brave" is the first and only single from American funk rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers' third album ''The Uplift Mofo Party Plan''. The single also included a cover of the Jimi Hendrix song "Fire" as a B-side, which would later appear on '' The Abbey Road E.P.'' and '' Mother's Milk'' as a tribute to guitarist Hillel Slovak, who died in 1988. Composition Most of the song's lyrics revolve around Anthony Kiedis' addiction to heroin. At the lowest point in Kiedis' addiction, Flea had kicked him out of the Chili Peppers with no intention of letting him back in unless he was proven sober. After getting clean through various rehab programs, he called Flea to tell him of his success, and was accepted back in the band. On the plane ride home, Kiedis wrote this song about his struggles with drugs and his overcoming them. The song is mostly an attempt to inspire other people like the rehab sessions were motivational for Kiedis to abandon the drugs. Kiedis described "Fi ...
