Ratchet (Ratchet & Clank)
Ratchet is one of the titular game characters and the main protagonist of the '' Ratchet & Clank'' video game series. In the English versions of the games, Ratchet is voiced by Mikey Kelley in the first ''Ratchet & Clank'' and by James Arnold Taylor since the second game. Appearances Ratchet is an anthropomorphic character known as a Lombax. His first appearance was on Planet Veldin, but it is later revealed in the series that Ratchet was originally born on the Lombax home-world of Planet Fastoon in the Polaris Galaxy and later sent to Planet Veldin in the Solana Galaxy by his father to protect him from Emperor Tachyon. Ratchet (slang)
Ratchet is a slang term in hip hop that, in its original sense, was a derogatory term used to refer to an uncouth woman, and may be a Louisianan dialect form of the word "wretched" or a variation of the word "ratshit." The term has since been extended to have broader meanings and connotations and is no longer strictly bound by race or gender. History Usage of the term is recorded early as 1992 by Pimp C of UGK, on the song "I'm So Bad" from the Too Hard To Swallow album. August 11, 1998 in rapper E-40's "Lieutenant Roast a Botch" track from his album ''The Element of Surprise''. The word also appears in publication in 1999, with the song "Do the Ratchet" on the album ''Ratchet Fight in the Ghetto'' by Anthony Mandigo from Shreveport, Louisiana. ''Robots'' is a 2005 American computer-animated science fiction adventure comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Double Ratchet Algorithm
In cryptography, the Double Ratchet Algorithm (previously referred to as the Axolotl Ratchet) is a key management algorithm that was developed by Trevor Perrin and Moxie Marlinspike in 2013. It can be used as part of a cryptographic protocol to provide end-to-end encryption for instant messaging. After an initial key exchange it manages the ongoing renewal and maintenance of short-lived session keys. It combines a cryptographic so-called "ratchet" based on the Diffie–Hellman key exchange (DH) and a ratchet based on a key derivation function (KDF), such as a hash function, and is therefore called a double ratchet. A ratchet or rattle, more specifically, cog rattle is a musical instrument of the percussion family and a warning/signaling device. It operates on the principle of the ratchet device, using a gearwheel and a stiff board mounted on a handle, which rotates freely.
