R46 (New York City Subway Car)
The R46 is a New York City Subway car model that was built by the Pullman Standard Company from 1975 to 1978 for the IND/ BMT B Division. They replaced all remaining Arnine cars and General Electric-powered R16s, and some R10s. The R46 order initially consisted of 754 single cars, each long, and was the largest single order of passenger cars in United States railroad history at the point of the fleet's completion. The R46 was the second order of 75-foot cars to be ordered for the New York City Subway, after the R44s. The first R46s ran in passenger service on July 14, 1975. The fleet was initially slated to be delivered between 1973 and 1975, but a strike at Pullman's factory delayed final deliveries until 1978. Several hundred cracks were found in the R46 trucks during their first few years of service, leading them to be referred to as "the most troubled cars ever purchased". D46 motorway ( cs, Dálnice D46), formerly Expressway R46 ( cs, Rychlostní silnice R46) is a highway in southern Czech Republic. It was built from 1974 to 1992. Escadrille R46
''Escadrille 46'' (variously known as ''Escadrille R46'' and ''Escadrille Let46'') was a highly decorated French World War bombing squadron. Although serving ordinarily as a reconnaissance and bombardment role, they also flew as gunships to escort bombing missions. The squadron was credited with destroying 37 German aircraft. History ''Escadrille 46'' ("small squadron 46") was founded in March 1915 with twin-engine three-seated Caudrons, hence ''Escadrille C46''. R-46 (missile)
The R-46 was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) design by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The R-46 concept was to launch a very large hydrogen bomb into orbit as a fractional orbital bombardment system (FOBS). The existence of the system was alluded to in a speech by then Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev in 1961. The design was not developed, however, and the FOBS concept was abandoned as part of SALT II.
