Pokwang
Marietta Subong (born August 27, 1970), known professionally as Pokwang, is a Filipino comedian, actress, television host and singer. She started in a reality show on ABS-CBN and subsequently appeared in dramas and sitcoms of the network. She also received the Best Comedy Actress award from the Philippine Movie Press Club for her portrayal in the sitcom ''Aalog-Alog'' and the Best Female Comedian award from People's Choice Awards. She became a host of the variety shows ''Wowowee'', '' Pilipinas Win na Win'' and '' Happy Yipee Yehey''. Early life Pokwang was born as Marietta Subong on August 27, 1970 in Iloilo City. ''A Mother's Story'' is a 2011 Filipino family Independent film about Medy (Pokwang) who became an illegal immigrant in the United States and her struggles as she achieves legal status. ''Aalog-Alog'' ( en, Shaking) is a Philippine sitcom on ABS-CBN. It premiered on July 8, 2006, and concluded on May 5, 2007. It stars comedian Pokwang and starlet Keanna Reeves as Doña Etang and Keanna respectively, friends who become feuding neighbors. The title comes from the Filipino word for "shaking or jiggling back forth" and it can be explained in one of the setting's two houses which leans from side to side like a rocking chair. The ABS-CBN franchise renewal controversy is a national dispute in the Philippines regarding the renewal of the congressional franchise that would have allowed Philippine media network ABS-CBN to continue broadcasting.
