Pelekas
Pelekas ( el, Πέλεκας) is a village in the central part of the island of Corfu, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Parelioi. In 2011 its population was 405 for the village and 612 for the community. Pelekas is located southwest of the city of Corfu. Parelioi ( el, Παρέλιοι) is a former municipality on the island of Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2019 local government reform it is part of the municipality Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located on the central west coast of the island of Corfu. It has a land area of and a population of 6,403 (2011 census). The seat of the municipality was the town of Kokkini (pop. 580). Its largest towns are Sinarádes (pop. 854), Áfra (839), Giannádes (565), Kokkíni, Kompítsi (733), and Pélekas (405). The Ionian Islands Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Ιονίων Νήσων, translit=Periféria Ioníon Níson, ) is the smallest by area of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece located in the Ionian Sea. It comprises all the Ionian Islands except Kythera, which, although historically part of the island group, was separated and integrated to the Attica Region. Demographics The population of the Ionian Islands in 2011 was 207,855, decreased by 1.5% compared to the population in 2001. Nevertheless, the region remains the third by population density with 90.1/km2 nationwide, well above the national of 81.96/km2.
